    Certify to be drug free Additional Eligibility Criteria for the Traditional Student Graduate from high school after December 31 2009 begins with the 2010 high school graduating class Enroll full time each semester Fall and Spring 12 hours the fall semester immediately following high school graduation and 15 hours each semester thereafter Meet one of the following criteria Graduate from an Arkansas public high school and successfully complete the Smart Core curriculum established by the Arkansas Department of Education and either Achieve at least a 2 5 HIGH SCHOOL GPA or Achieve a minimum composite score of nineteen 19 on the ACT or the equivalent score on an ACT equivalent Applicant who has a disability identified under the Individuals with Disabilities Act 20 U S C 1400 et seq as it existed on July 1 2009 and graduates from an Arkansas public high school but did not complete the Smart Core curriculum because the applicant s individualized education program under 6 41 217 did not require it shall achieve at least a 2 5 high school GPA and either Achieve a minimum composite score of nineteen 19 on the ACT or the equivalent score on an ACT equivalent or Score proficient or higher on all state mandated end of course assessments including without limitation end of course assessments on Algebra I Geometry Biology and Literacy beginning with the 2013 2014 school year Graduate from a private or out of state or home school high school and achieve a minimum composite score of nineteen 19 on the ACT or the equivalent score on an ACT equivalent Continuing Eligibility Criteria Maintain a 2 50 cumulative GPA Complete 27 semester hours the first academic year and 30 semester hours each year thereafter Complete all remedial courses during the first 30 hours taken after receipt of the scholarship Be continuously enrolled unless student request for scholarship to be placed on hold Maximum hold of 2 semesters Shall enroll in courses that lead toward a baccalaureate degree program after attempting the lesser of Sixty six 66 semester hours or The completion of an associate degree program unless the number of hours required to complete the associate degree program exceeds sixty six 66 semester hours in which case the higher number of hours for completion shall be used Will be renewed until recipient first Earns a Baccalaureate degree Attempts a total of 130 semester hours in 8 semesters NOTE If the recipient s undergraduate degree requires additional hours ADHE in conjunction with the student s institution shall determine the maximum period of time for renewal Application Deadline Application deadline is June 1 of student s senior year in high school Additional Eligibility Criteria for the Nontraditional Student Enroll full time or part time each semester Fall and Spring Full time 15 hours Part time at least 6 hours Meet one of the following criteria Successfully completed at least twelve 12 semester hours of courses granting three 3 or more hours of credit at an approved institution

    to the application deadline This criteria is only the eligibility to apply there is no assurance of award Leadership capabilities must be demonstrated To receive the Governor s Scholarship the student must enroll full time as an undergraduate student at an eligible public or private college or university in Arkansas in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation The student or one parent must be a bona fide resident of the State of Arkansas for at least the six consecutive months immediately prior to the application deadline To be considered a resident of the State of Arkansas for the Governor s Scholars Program a dependent student is considered a resident only when his her parents reside within the state and are classified as residents who pay taxes vote have Arkansas licenses etc The student must be a U S citizen or a permanent resident alien Permanent resident aliens must include a copy of their permanent resident alien form to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education with the application Amount of Scholarship Those students who receive the Governor s Scholars award will receive 4 000 per year at any approved Arkansas college or university The Governor s Distinguished Scholarship will pay up to 10 000 per year for tuition mandatory fees room and board The scholarship will be disbursed by the institution the Governor s Scholar is attending and will be apportioned according to that institution s academic terms The student must be enrolled in at least 15 semester credit hours 12 semester credit hours the fall term of the freshman year to receive funds for that term When this scholarship is combined with other scholarship funds the total amount of the student s financial aid package cannot exceed the cost of attendance at the higher education institution where the student attends If a student receives a total financial aid package that exceeds the cost of attendance the amount of this scholarship or other scholarships may be reduced Renewal of Scholarships Governor s Distinguished Scholar awards may be renewed for three academic years in addition to the initial award year provided the Governor s Distinguished Scholar has maintained a minimum 3 25 cumulative grade point average on a 4 0 scale at the end of each academic year and has completed 27 semester credit hours in the first academic year and 30 semester credit hours per academic year thereafter If the Governor s Distinguished Scholar fails to meet these requirements at the end of the academic year the scholarship will be revoked There are no provisions for probation or reinstatement The Governor s Scholars Award may be renewed for three academic years in addition to the initial award year provided the Governor s Scholar has maintained a minimum 3 0 cumulative college grade point average on a 4 0 scale at the end of each academic year and has completed 27 semester credit hours the first academic year and 30 semester credit hours per year thereafter If the Governor s

    Go Grant program full time is defined as 12 semester credit hours for the first fall semester and 15 semester credit hours thereafter Part time is defined as less than full time but at least 6 semester credit hours Eligibility Criteria Eligibility is based on the family s adjusted gross income as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA For a family with one member in the household the maximum adjusted gross income is 25 000 For each additional household member the maximum income increases by 5000 up to a maximum of 75 000 In addition to the income requirements applicants must meet the following be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien be an Arkansas resident for at least the 12 months prior to application for the grant be enrolled in an approved institution of higher education as a full time or part time student as defined by the Department of Higher Education be enrolled in a program of study that leads to or is creditable towards a bacculaureate degree These programs include baccalaureate degree programs associate degree programs qualified certificate programs and nursing school diplomas have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA and certify that they are drug free and must pledge in writing on the application form to refrain from the use of illegal substances This pledge includes alcohol for applicants less than twenty one years of age Continued Eligibility The grant shall be awarded for one academic year If sufficient funds are available the grant may be renewed annually The grant will be renewed only if the recipient maintains a 2 0 cumulative grade point average on a 4 0 scale maintains satisfactory academic progress as defined by the school and ADHE and demonstrates continuing financial need as determined by
