    enrolled in the School of Business Mississippi residents Junior or senior and GPA not less than 3 5 FASHION EXECUTIVE EDITOR OF TOMORROW BOOK SCHOLARSHIP SPRING AWARDS ONLY Student with a 3 0 or better GPA from the School of Business or Mass Communication Must aspire to become either a fashion brand or editor of a fashion publication FLORENCE DONNELL ALLEN SCHOLARSHIP FUND The awardee will be selected on the basis of need scholarly performance and critical manpower areas The recipient must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3 00 B average All currently enrolled students and entering Freshmen are eligible FOUNDATION EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Student with a 3 0 GPA or better GLENDA KAY KING SCHOLARSHIP Need scholarly performance and critical manpower areas 3 0 GPA or a composite score of 21 on the ACT for entering freshmen GEORGE AND TODD ALAN WHITAKER WHITAKER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP Music major with the highest academic average need and scholarly performance Selection will be made by the Department of Music faculty GULF COAST ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP Need and scholarly performance all currently enrolled students and accepted students are eligible if no coastal freshman applies HERBERT ANDERSON JR SCHOLARSHIP Social science major who maintains at least a 2 75 GPA HONORS CAMPUS ALL STAR CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP The student must have been enrolled at the university for at least one academic year must be in good standing with the university and must have need of financial assistance The student must have maintained a cumulative average of 3 5 and above A non scholarship student who is a member of the Campus All Star Challenge team whose cumulative average is less than 3 5 may be given special consideration for this scholarship This student must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the campus tournament and must have exhibited great potential as a member of the team The student must be recommended by a faculty member A committee of honors faculty will review the recommendations and select the recipient with final approval being given by the Vice President for Academic Affairs HOWARD H ROBINSON SCHOLARSHIP Graduating high school senior or an undergraduate at Alcorn from the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex area be accepted for admission to Alcorn State University as a high school senior have a minimum of 2 75 cumulative GPA on a 4 0 scale be a U S citizen be available for a personal interview with the selection committee submit completed application and documents by deadline INEZ STUTTS KNOWLES SCHOLARSHIP Need scholarly performance and critical manpower areas 3 0 GPA or a composite score of 21 on the ACT for entering freshmen ISOM H HERRON III 42 SCHOLARSHIP Junior or senior with the highest cumulative grade point average in a health science major i e health science biochemistry pre dentistry pre medicine or pre optometry biology pre dentistry pre medicine or pre pharmacy and medical technology JACK SPINKS SCHOLARSHIP FUND The recipient must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2 5 C average on a four point system Recipient must be an all around student who exemplifies the spirit and the desire to achieve Entering freshmen must have a composite ACT score of 15 or above The University Scholarship Committee will be responsible for screening the recommended applicants and the selection of the recipient All currently enrolled students and accepted freshmen are eligible Good prior attendance is important JAMES AND ANGELINE GUY POSEY SCHOLARSHIP FUND The recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3 0 or is an entering freshmen with a composite ACT score of 18 or more All currently enrolled students and accepted Freshmen are eligible priority will be given to students from Jefferson Davis county Covington county Claiborne County and other enrolled students and accepted Freshmen respectively Preference is to be given to English and Agriculture majors expressing an interest in teaching Prior recipients of the scholarship are eligible to reapply However preference is to be given to new applicants JAMES AND JOYCE BOLDEN SCHOLARSHIP Book scholarship awarded to curent SGA President JAMES S FORD SCHOLARSHIP LOS ANGELES ALUMNI CHAPTER All students eligible 2 5 GPA or a composite score of 21 on the ACT for entering freshmen CHARLES J D TILLMAN AND CAROL ANN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Scholarship funds for Agriculture students must maintain at least a 2 7 GPA and Mississippi resident JESSE ANDERSON MORRIS SR SCHOLARSHIP Junior or senior majoring in agriculture excellent moral character committed to a career in agriculture potentials of scholarship and leadership Selection by the faculty of the Department of Agriculture JESSICA HAYES WILLIAMS SCHOLARSHIP Music or Criminal Justice Majors MS MINORITY BUSINESS ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP Incoming Freshman majoring in Business Administration or relate field with a 3 0 or better GPA JEWELL WENDELL FORTENBERRY SR SCHOLARSHIP Entering freshman with a 3 0 GPA who is an Upward Bound Special Services or business student selection will be based on character scholarship need and a desire to achieve JOHN I AND EPSY Y HENDRICKS TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP Undergraduate teacher education major who has been accepted into and is in good standing in the ASU Teacher Education Program three   • Alcorn State University: Phase II Application Process
    Alcorn State University Foundation Inc T he Foundation administers both endowed scholarships and expendable scholarships or those that must be replenished with funds from the donating individual or entity The majority of scholarships available are in the form of endowed scholarships or those that are invested and funds awarded based on available interest Endowed scholarships are mostly established by alumni former university faculty and staff or family and friends in memory of beloved Alcornites who value the opportunities of an Alcorn education Most scholarships offered by the Foundation Require a Minimum 2 0 GPA or Above Students are able to apply during the two 2 application periods PHASE I Late Spring mid March through mid May and PHASE II Early Fall late August After applications are received they are evaluated and decisions made by the university s foundation scholarship committee and staff If selected PHASE I Scholarship Recipients are notified in writing by July 15 and requested to either submit their own typed and signed Thank You Letter to the Foundation and or schedule an appointment for a Thank You Letter Writing Session with the ASU Writing Center in the J D Boyd Library at their earliest opportunity PHASE II Walk In Scholarship Recipients are notified in writing or via telephone by September 11 All Thank You Letters must be submitted to the ASU Foundation by mid October Final Thank You Letters are usually forwarded to the donor to notify them of the recipients appreciation If the final Thank You Letter is received in time the scholarship monies will be posted to the students ASU account during registration ASU Foundation scholarship recipients not only receive financial assistance to defray the cost of an education but they also become one of Alcorn s ambassadors of excellence AWARDS Actual amounts available to be awarded depend on investment portfolio performance The majority of scholarship awards are a maximum 1 000 and are awarded for one 1 academic year for both fall and spring semesters One half of the total award is paid in the fall and the remaining half in the spring A select number of scholarships are awarded for the summer sessions There are a few recurring scholarships that are renewable from year to year based on students maintaining adherence to certain criteria however the majority of scholarships are non recurring To apply Click the link below to learn about scholarships available through the ASU Foundation ASU Foundation Scholarships Descriptions OTHER EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIP SOURCES Memphis Chapter Scholarship Students must adhere to the following Must have an ACT score of 18 or higher Must have a GPA of 2 75 or higher First priority given to Shelby County TN students but Desoto County MS students may apply APPLY NOW Scholarships for African American Women Scholarships for African American Women Herbert Lehman Education Fund The Jackie Robinson Foundation high school seniors only Ron Brown Scholarship high school seniors Black Excel Scholarship Gateways Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Dr James M Rosin Scholarship Fisk Premedical Summer
