  • Course Reserves : Saint Anselm College
    reserve at least one week before they are needed for class Reserves are processed first come first served If you know that you need a book on reserve for the start of the term please make sure to place your request early The Library does not put articles on reserve only books and audio visual materials If the item is a personal copy p c belonging to you or your department fill out the Reserve Form and bring the form and the item to the Circulation Desk At the end of the semester you may pick up the item or a Library staff member will return it to you via inter office mail To place a request Fill out a Reserve Form available at the Circulation Desk Come to the library with the completed Reserve Form and pull the item s from the library stacks Bring the Reserve Form and the item s to the Circulation Desk to get processed Both the form and the item s need to be brought to the Circulation Desk before the reserve will get processed Because it is important for the professor to physically verify the edition volume and condition of the book that

    Library Site Index Saint Anselm College Home Page Library About the Library Departments Collections Special Collections Usage Policy Main Content Special Collections Usage Policy Special Collections Usage Policy This policy applies to Geisel Library s New England Collection and Rare Book Collection Since much of the material housed in Special Collections is unique and frequently fragile or brittle it is essential that particular care be taken in handling each item We request your cooperation in preserving this irreplaceable material by observing the following regulations Sign in at the Circulation Desk Materials housed in Special Collections do not circulate and must be used in designated locations The shelves are closed to browsing Only pencils and note paper may be used while working with materials Only one book may be reviewed at a time White gloves provided by the Library must be worn while working with the collection Requests for photocopies of material will be considered when such duplication can be done without injury to the materials and in accordance with copyright restrictions When allowed single copies will be provided for the researcher s reference use only Supplying a photocopy does not represent authorization to publish All photocopying is done by staff

    Library Services Ask a Librarian About the Library Hours Directions Facilities Staff Departments Outreach Publications History of the Library Library Site Index Saint Anselm College Home Page Library About the Library Facilities Study Rooms Main Content Study Rooms Student Study Rooms Four group study rooms for use by Saint Anselm College students are available by reservation and are located on the Upper Level Rooms can be reserved for two hour blocks of time Each room contains a table chairs and whiteboard One of the rooms offers a computer and projector for practicing presentations and another contains a flatscreen monitor with laptop hook up and a region free DVD player You can reserve the room online by using LibCal our online room reservation system or in person by calling 603 641 7300 or stopping by the Circulation Desk Faculty Study Room A Faculty Study Room is located on the Upper Level adjacent to the Librarian s office Current faculty members can swipe their ID cards at the door to gain access to this room This room includes sofas and comfortable chairs as well as more traditional folio desks and chairs Saint Anselm College A Catholic Benedictine Liberal Arts College 100 Saint

    resources are available for use by the public The library collection serves the broad curriculum demands of the college Geisel Library is also a New Hampshire and Federal Government Depository Library Guest Services Walk up assistance with research at the Reference Desk including orientations or basic guidance on how to use resources In house access to research databases for non commercial use only In house use of all materials Computers Printers and Copiers The library has a wireless network that guests can access with their laptop computers after completing an onscreen registration process There are also several public computers with Internet access that visitors may use located on the lower level of the library Additionally there are coin operated printers and copy machines available to all users Please note that at peak demand periods guests may be asked to give up a computer for a Saint Anselm student Thank you for your cooperation Things to Remember When Visiting Geisel Library The hours for the library vary depending on whether class is in session Check our Hours webpage or phone 603 641 7300 to confirm before your visit Restrooms photocopiers and guest computers are located on the lower level of the

    literacy into academic programs By promoting the use of library resources in all formats By providing instruction formally or informally in person or via technology By evaluating the effectiveness of our approaches and constantly renewing our own skills Information Literacy Learning Outcome Geisel Library assisted with the drafting of an information literacy learning outcome that was reviewed and adopted by Saint Anselm College as a college wide learning objective in Fall 2012 This outcome will serve as a guideline for faculty seeking to address information literacy as a learning objective in their courses Here is the text of the learning outcome Goals and Objectives Information literacy is defined as an integrated ability to find evaluate and utilize relevant scholarly and other resources and to maintain high standards of academic integrity Courses or assignments that promote information literacy should foster an appreciation for the complexity of the modern information environment cultivate an understanding of how to effectively search for a wide range of relevant high quality information sources and develop in students the ability to critically evaluate sources whenever seeking information to address an academic or personal need Student Learning Outcomes Formulate a well defined research question with a manageable focus and articulate the information needed to address it Develop an effective strategy for seeking the needed information and retrieve information from appropriate relevant sources in an efficient manner Evaluate information and its sources for issues like reliability and bias as well as potential shortcomings such as flawed reasoning or methodological weakness Synthesize the information to construct new ideas that address the initial research question and communicate the information clearly and effectively Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical issues and social context related to information including the importance of avoiding plagiarism and documenting sources appropriately Other Perspectives on Information Literacy The
