    Message from the Chair News Events News and Announcements Student Highlights Undergraduate Program Overview Admissions Graduation Requirements Student Life Academic Advising Internships MBA Marketing Ph D Program Overview Placement Data Admissions Financial Assistance FAQ Faculty Faculty and Research Awards and Recognition Careers in Marketing Overview Services and Resources Ph D Program Overview The doctoral program is a full time residential program for students whose career goals are full time tenure track research and teaching positions at research focused universities As a Ph D candidate you will develop the capability to recognize marketing related problems frame these problems into research questions and address them in a scholarly way During the program you will review analyze conduct and publish research A series of doctoral seminars and research methods courses as well as participation in active research projects will prepare you for your research Additionally you will develop and hone your teaching skills through assignments as a teaching assistant or instructor Although each Ph D student must complete a core curriculum you may tailor your coursework to help you achieve personal goals If you have attained a bachelor s degree our program is designed to be completed in five years If you already hold a master s degree our program is designed to be completed in four to five years The program begins with four core marketing seminars developed specifically for doctoral students and taken during the first year of study Marketing Research Design Marketing Management Consumer Behavior Marketing Models In addition to the courses above students typically also take one more class each semester for a total of three courses each semester These courses are typically available outside of the business school and focus on issues such as statistics economics and or research methodology Upon completion of the first year of coursework

    paced technological advances are making established products and services obsolete changing the way business is conducted The current rate of economic growth in China has outpaced existing models of economic thought and has created immense needs for education and knowledge The W P Carey School of Business is committed to providing advanced managerial education that will prepare students for leadership in this dynamic global business environment Such a commitment is fully reflected in the strategic vision of the school The need to excel in globalization is a critical to building Arizona State University as a New American University Program Overview China is a dynamic and evolving global economic and political power that must be part of the plan for any business school with global aspirations The W P Carey School of Business has a set of relationships that have evolved over the last decade that have already yielded significant results for the school ASU and our partners in both the U S and China In November 1998 the business school collaborated with Motorola to establish a customized MBA program in Beijing China with a curriculum focusing on high tech management The program plays a pivotal role for Motorola to excel in management localization market penetration and talent retention for its China operations To date the program has graduated more than 130 students who are among the global leaders of Motorola In 2003 the W P Carey School of Business launched an Executive MBA program in Shanghai The EMBA in Shanghai is delivered in collaboration with Shanghai National Accounting Institute SNAI which was founded by former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji and is under the governance of China s Ministry of Finance The EMBA in Shanghai has attracted senior management of China s largest firms and government officials in charge of policymaking and regulation Most students and alumni hold the title of chairman CEO president or vice president of China s largest firms located in Shanghai the country s financial capital In addition to the EMBA in Shanghai the W P Carey School offers Executive Education Programs to Chinese firms and multinationals with operations in China Our annual Executive Forum in Shanghai has also attracted the participation of global business leaders high ranking government officials and elite academics to share their thoughts on the emerging global issues facing China Speakers at past forums have included Dr Robert Mondell Dr Edward Prescott Dr Lawrence Klein Han Zheng Li Yong Lou Jiwei Hu Yanzhao Howard Schultz and Roger Dow Through the forums we are able to offer an exclusive platform for exchange between leaders to cultivate and expand business opportunities build global connectivity and explore common ventures of interest Highlights 2005 Graduation Ceremony for Shanghai EMBA Students The first W P Carey EMBA in Shanghai class graduated in June 2005 The commencement was held in Shanghai and was presided over by ASU President Michael Crow It was the first time in the university s history that degrees were conferred by an ASU president outside
