    experience for students interested in a career in any area of aeronautical or astronautical engineering Our aerospace engineering programs prepare students for a variety of professional options Though a majority of our graduates choose to go directly to jobs in the aerospace industry others attend graduate school to further their technical education or to engage in ground breaking research Still others enter professional schools such as business or law We offer concentrations in both aeronautics and astronautics The aeronautics concentration emphasizes topics relevant to the design and analysis of aircraft helicopters missiles and other atmospheric vehicles while the astronautics option highlights topics important to the engineering of rockets and spacecraft Both concentrations give students a rigorous technical background as well as a variety of experiences solving real and timely engineering problems Many of our students hone their creative and leadership skills through engagement in one of several extra curricular aerospace related activities Be sure to check out the Daedelus rocketry club which has been featured on the Discovery Channel s Large Dangerous Rocket Ships program The Air Devils Design Build Fly team participates in a national competition every year with their radio controlled self designed aircraft The Sun Devil Satellite Lab team is in the middle of designing and building an earth imaging satellite the group s founder was recently honored with the ACE Student of the Year award Aerospace Engineering Aeronautics B S E this branch of aerospace engineering is concerned primarily with the design and construction of aircraft structures and power units and with the special problems of flight within the Earth s atmosphere Major map Upper Division Technical Electives and Exploration Course Options Aerospace Engineering Astronautics B S E is the branch of aerospace engineering that deals with the science and technology of space flight and the

    Advisory Board News Seminars Staff Videos Contact Aerospace Engineering Graduate Program Home Aerospace Engineering Graduate Program Graduate Program ASU s aerospace engineering graduate program is ranked 22nd nationally among public institutions and encourages independent and innovative study Modern computational and laboratory facilities are available to support timely research investigations All graduate degree programs stress a solid foundation in technical fundamentals communication and professionalism along with access to several interdisciplinary programs A broad based curriculum is offered in design systems and control fluid mechanics science and engineering mechanics and dynamics of solids and transport phenomena thermodynamics and energy The Master of Science programs prepare engineers for doctoral study or industrial positions that specialize in research project management and product innovation Aerospace Engineering M S The aerospace engineering faculty offer a Master of Science program There are two track options 1 a thesis option and 2 a non thesis option The non thesis option has two possible culminating experiences 1 a comprehensive exam or 2 an applied project The thesis and applied project options require a faculty advisor Admitted students are assumed to be in a non thesis comprehensive exam option until a faculty advisor has been secured In order to gain admission to the M S thesis option qualified applicants must secure a faculty advisor prior to admission Qualified applicants who have not secured a faculty advisor prior to admission decisions may be offered admission to the M S non thesis option with the opportunity to move to the M S thesis option after a thesis chair has been obtained Additional information is in the Graduate Guidelines on the school website Aerospace Engineering Ph D This program is directed toward original research writing and defending a dissertation that describes an original contribution within the chosen discipline is required The doctoral program
