    Pictures a small number of Film and Media Production majors can spend an entire semester working on a Universal Pictures set Overview The BA in Film was established in 2005 and is offered jointly through the Herberger Institute School of Film Dance and Theatre and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences The program offers a set of shared core film courses as well as concentration specific courses offered by each college Although all students enter the School of Film Dance and Theatre as Filmmaking Practices majors choosing one of the School s two concentrations is required to pursue a Bachelors in Film After completing the core classes students may continue in the non studio based concentration of Filmmaking Practices or apply to the highly selective studio based concentration of Film and Media Production Students in Filmmaking Practices develop expertise in a variety of film professions including management marketing distribution and producing Upon completion of this degree students will be prepared for entry level positions in film production producing and management or advanced graduate level education As a student in Film and Media Production you ll use contemporary digital technology to study and practice as screenwriters directors cinematographers editors and producers The program places unique emphasis on ethical decision making in content creation and business practice Students interested in film and media studies take concentration specific courses through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Steps to Apply 1 Apply to ASU as Filmmaking Practices major When you apply to Arizona State University you will be asked to indicate your intended major 2 Optional step To apply to the concentration in Film and Media Production you must submit additional application materials once you complete the film core Faculty Faculty teaching courses for the BA in Film degree program are drawn from the ranks of working professionals in film and television Janaki Cedanna film studio manager Adam Collis visiting professor Ellery Connell assistant professor Micha Espinosa associate professor of voice and acting Joseph Fortunato senior lecturer Oscar Giner senior lecturer Christopher LaMont instructor Facilities The School of Film Dance and Theatre occupies ten buildings across the ASU Tempe campus which between them comprise five top of the line performance venues eight dance and movement studios six rehearsal and composition studios three film studios sound stages four cutting edge digital media laboratories and scenic lighting and costume shops for dance and theatre Performance Venues Dance and Movement Studios Rehearsal and Composition Venues Film Studios Digital Media Laboratories Shops and Production Spaces Offices and Ancillary Spaces Internships Students with sophomore standing or higher can apply for internships and production assistant jobs as they become available Previously students worked on Universal Pictures film The Kingdom 2007 Television series Prison Break Fox and Lincoln Heights ABC Regional award winning independent films such as Netherbeast Incorporated Ronalds Brothers 2007 ASU is also forging a close relationship with the Arizona Film Commission with the expectation that more film productions will be enticed to Arizona Additionally through a

allows you to grammar and spell check your work Then you will copy and paste this into the online application Essay Questions First time dance applicants The School of Film Dance and Theatre s dance program revolves around the notion of fostering and nurturing creativity This central principle informs all areas of practice and is supported by a core set of values humanity leadership reflection and context Describe why these core values are important to dance and how you hope to develop as a student at ASU Re interviewing applicants Describe what you have done to develop yourself and your movement creative practice since your last interview identify workshops attended ASU classes master classes key experiences etc and address the core values of the program as detailed above Additional Information You will be asked to submit additional information regarding your dance experience dance related experience dance theory coursework and experience with dance production and technology Letters of recommendations Please submit at least two letters of recommendation 1 technique 1 academic from an instructor or someone with whom you have had professional and or artistic interaction Do
