teachers dropping their stipend positions in fear of a witch hunt and in protest The high school has gone through two or three Vice Principals this year alone one having not even stepped foot in the building while it s had at least two Principals The students launched a walk out back in November yet the district hasn t made much progress since It could be hard willing to find teachers or administrators willing to talk about everything that has been going on though it might be possible to find students and parents willing to talk about the conditions and the problems the school has been facing Walk for Hunger Every year Project Bread hosts the Walk for Hunger in Boston where they try to raise money to stop hunger I could do a story about where the money raised goes to and why the people who participate in the walk do so I could go to the walk and try to talk to walkers and people involved One problem with this idea is that the walk is only one day it might be hard to find people to talk to and it s not until early May Posted in Uncategorized No Comments JOURN 15A Video Project March 30th 2016 Posted in Uncategorized No Comments Video Pitches March 5th 2016 1 With the Presidential election being a major news topic and the Massachusetts primary having just taken place my first idea is to do a story about all of the first time voters since many on campus have likely never before voted in a Presidential race It could focus on what it was like for them whether it met expectations what type of research into the candidates they did 2 The Usen Castle one of the dorms on campus has been announced to be closing at the end of the Fall 2016 semester because administration has deemed it dangerous I could do a story about the building what problems it has what may happen to the building what caused the decision to be made and how people feel about its closing 3 The Community advisors are important leaders in the campus community who set up events for Brandeis students offer guidance to their floor residents and patrol the dorm buildings at night to make sure everyone is safe and not causing problems They don t often get recognition though so I could do a story about what they actually do on campus what it s like what made them become a CA how they set up events Posted in Uncategorized 2 Comments Story Idea Pitch January 28th 2016 Admittedly I ve had a hard time trying to come up with a story pitch and haven t locked one down yet for certain So on that note I m going to post two potential story pitches for the moment One possibility is that I know somebody who is in Student Events this year I could talk to her about what Student

60 people now I want to highlight that and find out how this happened Best Matthew Author mrosenstein Posted on March 9 2016 Leave a comment on Video Package Pitch My Pitch Hello World Leaving one s nest of comfort is always a hard thing to do This is especially the case when one moves across the world to a totally new environment Brandeis has an influx of Asian students coming straight from China This transition from Chinese culture to an American one is fascinating to me I want to learn and understand how these kids grew up and what they really are thinking inside of their heads I walk around campus everyday seeing these Chinese students in packs speaking a language that is so complex I want to know what they are saying and what they are feeling Figuring out why and how they got to Brandeis specifically is something I want to pursue Looking at their upbringing and seeing if it lines up at all with mine is what I want to study What did they think of us initially coming into an American University How do they perceive us as people What kind of things are important to them Where do they stand on American issues that are brought up on our campus These are just a few of the questions I want them to answer Personally I ve been to Asia because my father does business over there I only see these Chinese people through a business setting at this moment I ve watched my father work closely with them in a business setting not on a personal level I want to look at the youth and deeply understand them on a much more personal level I learned a lot about the Chinese culture from my trip to China and I realized the culture and upbringing must be drastically different then an American one I want to see if I m right Talking and comprehending these kids lives is intriguing in my mind I m excited to venture into an unknown culture and learn first hand the life of the Asian student here at Brandeis Best Matthew Author mrosenstein Posted on January 27 2016 January 28 2016 1 Comment on My Pitch Intoduction Hello world my name is Matt Rosenstein and I am a sophomore from Minneapolis Minnesota Writing has always been a passion of mine and I have always felt that journalism was a skill that I needed to master I am an avid sports fan cheering on the mediocre teams my home state Minnesota has to offer I especially love watching and keeping tabs on the Minnesota Wild hockey team as well as the Vikings football team When it comes to journalism I love looking at different cultures and seeing how they view us Americans Being at Brandies I am exposed to many different cultures and walks of life Even though I have only been on campus for three semesters I feel like I
