    Community Band Concert Liberté and Shimizu Wind Orchestra Japan Wednesday 3 2 16 8 p m Harman Hall Performing Arts Center The Cal Poly Wind Ensemble enjoys a national as well as international reputation for musical excellence Each year the ensemble performs several major concerts in the Performing Arts Center and often goes on national and international tours Through numerous special invitations the Wind Ensemble has performed in many of the world s finest concert halls including Beethoven Hall at the Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo the Michael Fowler Performing Arts Centre in Wellington New Zealand the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia the St John s Smith Square in London and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles The Shizuoka Community Band Concert Liberté was founded in 1953 As a community band it may be the oldest band in Japan The oldest member is 73 and the youngest is 18 Performing with this ensemble will be the Shimizu Wind Orchestra This ensemble was founded in 1986 and is active in the various competitions held in Japan ever year The two groups are located in towns next to each other and have a strong relationship and always help each other Tickets 18 general 12 students general seating Concert I I Kansai Student Band Federation Japan and CSU Long Beach Wind Symphony Thursday 3 3 16 8 p m Harman Hall Performing Arts Center The Kansai Student Band Federation Concert Band of Osaka Japan is widely recognized throughout the world as one of the finest youth wind bands in Japan The ensemble has toured in many countries and has a vast concert band repertoire available on iTunes The Kansai Student Band Federation functions both as a marching band and as a concert band Both ensembles are in great demand Recognized internationally as a premier wind band program the CSULB bands have performed at many of the most prestigious venues and events across the globe The Los Angeles Times hailed the Wind Symphony as thoroughly disciplined and euphonious The wind band program s ultimate mission is to bring the highest quality wind literature to a professional level of performance thus engaging the listening audience Tickets 18 general 12 students general seating Concert I II U S Army Field Band Washington D C Friday 3 4 16 8 p m Harman Hall Performing Arts Center From Boston to Baghdad Tampa to Toronto The United States Army Field Band has been thrilling audiences of all ages for more than six decades As the premier touring musical representative for the United States Army this internationally acclaimed organization travels thousands of miles each year presenting a variety of music to enthusiastic audiences throughout the nation and abroad Through these concerts the Field Band fosters the support of the American people for members of the armed forces and supports diplomatic efforts around the world Tickets 4 free tickets per household while supplies last general seating Concert IV Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Wind Orchestra and Cal
