    and Bengaluru India For more information please visit the Cal Poly Study Abroad website Steps to Study Abroad Where do you want to go The Cal Poly International Center provides an overall picture of possible countries They have many resources for you to use both online and in the office The Cal Poly International Center Bldg 38 Rm 145 PH 756 1477 www international calpoly edu When are you going We recommend students plan their trips abroad for Summer or Fall to ensure staying on track at Cal Poly If you are interested in studying abroad for a full year you may not be able to find enough classes to substitute and it could extend your graduation date at Cal Poly What are you taking Most students take three to four courses while abroad Cal Poly doesn t have a minimum number of units required when abroad but study abroad schools programs may have a minimum requirement If you do not see a class on the Pre Approved List you will need to make an appointment with a Study Abroad Peer Advisor to fill out a course substitution form see more information below Finance your trip The Cal Poly International Center website explains many financing options You can find a brochure on financing your Study Abroad trip here Course Substitutions Pre Approved Study Abroad Courses for the Orfalea College of Business If there is a course you would like to take that is not on the pre approved list above you will need to submit a course substitution petition We recommend starting the course substitution process immediately after you decide on a program and the courses you will be taking The process can take over one month and should be completed prior to departure If you have questions about which

    College Based Student Success Fees 2015 2016 Leadership Program for Diversity Inclusion Orfalea Competitive Travel Grant Application The Orfalea College of Business is looking to award grants to students who plan on studying abroad or away e g Silicon Valley Entrepreneurship Immersion Program Doing Business in Brazil through BUS 304 Establishing International Supply Chains course through any Cal Poly Affiliate Program during Fall Winter Spring or Summer of the 2015 2016 Academic Year Applicants who are selected may be granted up to 3000 00 to apply to their study abroad or away expenses Students will be evaluated on the following criteria Number of quarters remaining at Cal Poly after study abroad program is completed to share their international experience Length of time spent in study abroad program Depth of cultural immersion Intensity of language immersion Amount of units that will apply to academic progress in GE Support Major or Minor Campus involvement Cal Poly Cumulative and Higher Ed GPA The Orfalea Competitive Travel Grant is currently not accepting applications The Travel Grant Application will re open for students pursuing a study abroad experience in Summer 2016 or Fall 2016 in early March 2016 Recent News Paul Orfalea Speaks to Students

    the academic year This program is driven by the needs and goals of the Mentee This program is highly recommended for first and second year students transfer students and students who may be experiencing challenges in their experience at Cal Poly Commitment As a Mentee you re expected to meet with your Peer Mentor once a week for one hour Your weekly mentoring sessions are determined by you and your Peer Mentor and will occur at an on campus location You will agree on a date time and location that will be applied weekly throughout each academic term During your weekly mentoring sessions you will work with your Peer Mentor to establish your goals for the quarter check in on progress towards your goals and discuss opportunities and behaviors to develop that will help you reach your goals The purpose of your mentoring sessions is to develop a relationship with your Peer Mentor establish an organized plan for the quarter and to collaborate with your Peer Mentor to create strategies for working towards your goals for the academic year It is beneficial for you to review your class schedule and other commitments to determine the best way to integrate your peer mentoring relationship into your quarter schedule Benefits Receive support and guidance in creating a personalized goal oriented plan for success in university life Experience and knowledge about how to be a successful college student Exposure to how to develop strategies for academic success including goal setting study skills time management practices and career exploration Information about curriculum concentration options campus involvement and academic resources available within the Orfalea College of Business Peer Mentors are extensively trained in the following Structuring an effective mentoring relationship including establishing mentorship expectations creating an inclusive peer mentoring environment reviewing peer mentoring relationship boundaries
