  • OCOB - Brennan Davis
    Polytechnic State University He has seven years of experience teaching the marketing core class marketing research and marketing analytics He specializes in connecting large datasets to answer questions in the domain of transformative consumer research Professionally Dr Davis has eight years of experience in marketing management in the automotive and technology industries In 2015 he received the Hood Professorship of Marketing in the Orfalea College of Business Brennan s scholarly interest in transformative consumer research is reflected in current research on marketing and obesity He investigates theory about place social psychology and unhealthy consumption He has publications in the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing where he won the best paper award for the journal in 2014 from the American Marketing Association and in American Journal of Public Health where he won the best paper award in 2009 from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation He has also published in the Journal of Business Research and has working papers targeting other top academic marketing and consumer research journals Brennan enjoys teaching the marketing core course to introduce to students the exciting powerful and critical function of marketing Marketing is the only customer facing function of business and is vital to the firm s success Brennan is also developing a course on marketing analytics of big data to be formally offered in fall 2015 He is working with an advisory task force of corporate and academic representatives to help create marketing curriculum that will prepare Cal Poly students for the best jobs in the future of marketing Education PhD The Paul Merage School of Business University of California Irvine MBA The Wharton School of Business University of Pennsylvania BS University of California Los Angeles Experience Assistant Professor Baylor University Assistant Professor Azusa Pacific University Marketing Manager Project InVision Marketing Consultant Nissan Motor

    faculty member since 1996 specializes in qualitative research especially focus group moderation and professional sales Applying her Certificate of Proficiency in Qualitative Research from the Burke Institute Prof Simon consults with local nonprofit organizations and businesses to help them better understand their customers stakeholders and services Combining her teaching expertise with research ability Prof Simon trains many others in the skills needed to effectively moderate focus group discussions In addition to her wide variety of marketing courses including Principles of Marketing International Marketing and Listening to the Customer Prof Simon instructs and coaches the Orfalea College of Business Sales Development Program Throughout this ten week training course students develop sales skills create a sales plan and portfolio participate in sales role plays observe a salesperson in action critique fellow trainees and explore selling as a career Their newly acquired skills prepare them to compete in the Orfalea College of Business Sales Competition The winner of each quarter s Orfalea College of Business Sales Competition have the opportunity to compete all expenses paid at the National Collegiate Sales Competition in Atlanta Georgia Prof Simon honored five times for her teaching excellence has held a variety of positions in a broad range of industries including nonprofits sole proprietorships and a major corporation This vast experience allows her to connect academic concepts to real world situations helping students better understand and appreciate the knowledge they gain in her classes Education MBA Marketing and Finance University of Southern California BA Economics Brandeis University Experience President Lisa R Simon Consulting Instructor and Coach OCOB Sales Development Program Marketing Adjunct Faculty Orfalea College of Business Cal Poly Faculty Advisor Cal Poly American Marketing Association Proceedings Editor Nation Conference in Sales Management Special Consultant Small Business Development Department Textbook Reviewer Prentice Hall McGraw Hill Irwin Wiley Certification
