    News Facilities Recordings Auditions and Scholarships Chamber Music Series Lakeside Band Festival Lakeside Choral Festival Music A F Siebert Chapel Choir The A F Siebert Chapel Choir is a 50 member choir that welcomes singers of a wide range of ability and experience The choir s primary responsibility is to provide music for Chapel services and other College wide events but the choir is also active as a concert ensemble The A F Siebert Chapel Choir has participated in such events as the Christmas Festival the Third Annual Weston Noble Concert Family Weekend Worship Service and others It is directed by Dr Dimitri Shapovalov assistant professor of music at Carthage Approximately two thirds of the ensemble consists of non music majors The ensemble is enthusiastic about sharing its music with Carthage audiences and rehearsals are always filled with laughter In its mission to reach out to every member of the Carthage community the Chapel Choir explores a diverse body of repertoire that ranges from the Western art music tradition to African American spirituals to musical theater New members are welcome To inquire about trying out for the A F Siebert Chapel Choir contact Dr Shapovalov at the e mail below

    Music Carthage Choir Founded in 1927 as the Carthage College A Cappella Choir the College s premier vocal ensemble is now in its 85th year The Carthage Choir is believed to be the second oldest a cappella touring choir in the United States Originally a choir that performed a cappella choral music solely from the sacred repertory the choir now performs sacred and secular music from the full expanse of choral traditions Since 1973 the choir has taken 10 European tours to Holland East and West Germany The Czech Republic Poland Austria Italy Switzerland France and most recently England and the reunited Germany The choir tours Central Europe every three years during the College s January term About the Conductor Music professor Eduardo Garcia Novelli is conductor of the Carthage Choir and Director of Choral Activities at Carthage Dr Garcia Novelli is a native of Argentina and most recently director of choral activities at Lamar University After serving for six years as assistant director of the National Young People Choir of Argentina and a fruitful high school choral directing career in Buenos Aires including several international tours he moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies He graduated with

    ensembles including string quartets and piano trios under the guidance of studio faculty The Chamber Orchestra is a vital contributor to many campus events including Family Weekends Christmas Festival and Carthage Celebration of Faith Concerts are given each term some of which are coupled with regional travel opportunities Selections performed by the Chamber Orchestra are drawn from works befitting the intimate nature of this type of ensemble and have included music by composers such as Barber Beethoven Copland Ellington Hanson Haydn Holst Husa Mendelssohn Mozart Purcell Ravel Respighi Stravinsky Vaughan Williams Vivaldi and Warlock Rehearsals are held from 5 to 6 15 p m Monday through Thursday Chamber Orchestra meets Tuesday and Thursday and String Orchestra meets Monday and Wednesday Carthage Chamber Orchestra Welcomes New Conductor Clark Chaffee joins the music faculty as conductor of the Carthage Chamber Orchestra He comes to Carthage after a remarkable tenure as Senior Director of Orchestras at Adlai Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire Ilinois where he was named Teacher of the Year in 2011 12 He serves as Vice President head of the Orchestra Division for Illinois Music Educators Association He holds a Diploma from Interlochen Arts Academy a BME from the University of
