    emptying recycling containers into one big container combining paper plastic and glass Does that mean they re just throwing it all away No When Environmental Services staff empty a recycling station the items you sorted stay sorted in separate garbage bags Paper stays in one bag plastics and glass bottles stay in another bag and aluminum and tin cans stay in a third bag But all three bags are collected in a single recycling dumpster This is because Carthage utilizes single stream recycling which means all recyclables are combined in one recycling dumpster before leaving campus Waste Management empties these dumpsters daily taking Carthage s recyclables to an off campus facility where they are sorted again this time more thoroughly Can I recycle batteries Yes There is a five gallon pail in each residence hall for small batteries like those used in cell phones cameras flashlights etc These pails are collected and taken to Maintenance where Batteries Plus picks them up Hedberg Library also collects batteries for recycling Please note Car batteries should not be placed in these buckets Car batteries should be taken to the Maintenance Department for recycling Can I recycle ink cartridges and light bulbs Yes Hedberg

    handicap or other factors which cannot be a lawful basis for an employment or educational decision The Senior Vice President for Business and Administration located in Lentz Hall 434 262 551 6200 is the Title IX and Section 504 coordinator of the College Students with questions about procedures for filing a complaint of discrimination are encouraged to contact The Dean of Students or the Associate Vice President for Student Life in the Todd Wehr Center 262 551 5800 Any student may file a complaint or request a review of any incident policy or act of the College or a member of the Carthage community when a discriminatory act is perceived or alleged When the allegation involves the actions of a student or student group a signed written statement should be filed with the Dean of Students or Associate Vice President for Student Life The written statement must be filed within 10 days of the incident and include the date of the incident the names of the individuals involved and specifics about the Incident The Dean of Students or the Associate Vice President for Student Life will appoint two members of the professional staff of the Dean of Students Office to investigate the allegation in accordance with the judicial procedures set forth in the Carthage Student Community Code The Dean of Students or the Associate Vice President for Student Life and the appointed committee members will respond to the person filing the complaint within five business days Unless written notice is provided by the committee to the individual filing the complaint with an estimated date for completion of an investigation the investigation will be completed within five days of the initial response to the complaint Students wishing to file a statement alleging discrimination by a faculty or staff member should submit

    explicit actions which are verbal written or physical in nature and have the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual s work or academic performance or creating an undesirable working studying or living environment Sexual Harassment Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual advances requests for sexual favors explicit sexist remarks and verbal written or physical contact of a sexual nature when 1 Submission to such contact is made either explicitly or implicitly a condition of an individual s employment or academic advancement 2 Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment or academic decisions affecting such an individual 3 Such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual s work or academic performance or creating an undesirable working studying or living environment 4 Such conduct is directed toward the sexual orientation of an individual with the intent to demean embarrass or out the individual Filing Formal Complaints Harassment by an administrator or other staff employee A signed written statement alleging harassment by a staff member must be filed with the Senior Vice President for Administration and Business The Office of the Senior Vice President for Business and Administration is located in Room 434 of Lentz Hall 262 551 6200 If the allegation involves an administrator the statement must be filed with the President of the College The Office of the President is located in Room 405 of Lentz Hall 262 551 5858 Harassment by a student A signed written statement alleging harassment by a student must be filed with the Dean of Students or the Associate Vice President for Student Life in the Dean of Students Office located on the first floor of the Todd Wehr Center 262 551 5800 The Dean of Students
