    in full prior to July 1 and a credit equal to 2 percent of the deferred amount will be credited to your account Option 2 A two payment option is available with one half the deferred amount due by August 15 and the balance payable January 13 Credit card payments are allowed with this option Visa Mastercard or Discover Option 3 The deferred amount can be divided into eleven equal payments which will be due on the first of each month from July through the following May A service fee equal to one percent of the deferred amount or a minimum of 50 00 is charged No credit card payments are accepted with this option Option 4 After July 1 a nine month payment plan is available with the first payment due by August 15 or at the time of check in for the Fall Term A surcharge fee of 150 is attached to the first payment Payments are made through www ecsi net carthage or call 866 927 1438 Option 5 PLUS Parent Loan to Undergraduate Students enables parents with good credit histories to borrow for dependent undergraduate students who are enrolled at least half time The annual maximum for a PLUS is the difference between the cost of attendance and the total financial aid received Although the interest rate fluctuates annually it is capped at 9 percent More information Option 6 Alternative Loans are available to students providing they meet the specified requirements Each of these loans have different eligibility requirements More information Option 7 Federal Work Study or Campus Employment is a great way for students to assist in contributing towards educational expenses Students who qualify for Federal Work Study will have this reflected in their financial aid award Students who do not qualify for the Federal

    by the federal government using the college as the lender Carthage uses a loan management company call Educational Computer Systems Incorporation ECSI to manage these loans ECSI can be contacted by calling 1 888 549 3274 All interest on a Perkins Loan is paid by the federal government while the student is attending school at least half time and during the 9 month grace period after the student either graduates or fails to enroll at least half time Repayment on this loan begins 9 months after the student graduates leaves school or fails to enroll at least half time A student has up to 10 years to repay the loan depending on the amount borrowed When can I complete the Perkins Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note The Financial Aid office must notify ECSI of the student s loan before the student can go online and e sign the Perkins Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note Normally a list of enrolled students is uploaded to ECSI in early August of each year A letter or email will go out to the student informing them when a student can go on line to complete this process Are any documents required Perkins Entrance Counseling Perkins Master Promissory Note In addition to the FAFSA all first time borrowers must complete an Entrance Counseling Session and a Master Promissory Note Complete Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling and Sign the Perkins Master Promissory Note online You will need your federal PIN to electronically sign the MPN If you don t know your PIN go to www pin ed gov to request a duplicate copy The Perkins Loan will not transfer to the student s account until after this process is completed If you wish you can decline the Perkins Loan by either emailing your wishes to
