  • Special Allocations — Budgeting — Student Government — Carthage College
    guidelines are provided to act as a guide in the special allocation process of the Budget Finance Committee of Student Government The committee has the power to allow for exceptions and or add to these guidelines A Copy of these guidelines will be provided to all Budget and Finance Committee members and to a representative of each organization recognized by Student Government to aid in the special allocation process 1 A special allocation can be requested at any time throughout the school year Special allocations will be considered only when funding is available 2 Only student organizations recognized by Student Government excluding individual social Greek organizations are eligible for special allocations 3 The special allocation application must be submitted by campus mail to the Student Government Treasurer prior to the Budget Finance Committee weekly meeting on Mondays at 4 p m 4 In the event of any Student Government funds being spent on a trip conference convention or any other event that involves the organization leaving campus a member of the faculty or staff of the college must be present and acting as an advisor to the group on the trip 5 Fundraising materials will not be covered 6 National dues will not be covered 7 Donations gifts or prizes will not be covered 8 Organizations found to be violating or misusing the special allocation funds will be subject to review a First Offense a review session to discuss the incident determine a corrective course of action and remind the organization of the guidelines b Second Offense a restriction on Student Government funding imposed on organizations will be for the amount spent improperly If the organization s budget does not have the sufficient funds the restriction will be made on the following semester s allocation In cases where this is

  • Carthage Theatre Department premieres “A Clamour of Rooks” Feb. 15-23 — Carthage News — Carthage College
    perform on the Smock Alley Theatre stage Built in 1662 the Smock Alley Theatre is one of Europe s landmark theatres and the oldest theatre in Ireland Believed to be lost to history a full archaeological excavation in 2009 uncovered the theatre s original foundation Over the past decade efforts were undertaken to restore the theatre that was originally commissioned by King Charles II A Clamour of Rooks was written by Irish playwright Martin Maguire in collaboration with the Carthage students and Patrick Sutton head of the Gaiety School of Acting National Theatre School of Ireland Mr Sutton presented a workshop at Carthage in the fall during which the students developed the play s characters and ideas Hear from the playwright Dublin based playwright Martin Maguire will be in attendance for this weekend s shows and hold pre and post show discussions for the performance on Friday Feb 22 The resulting play directed by Carthage theatre professor Neil Scharnick tells the story of prodigal daughter Sophia who returns home to care for her dying mother Her efforts to save her mother and find reconciliation lead her on a nightmarish fairy tale journey deep into the unspeakable memories of their troubled past A Clamour of Rooks is not a fairy tale it is an exploration of how fairy tales both reveal and obscure the scary and painful realities of human existence Showtimes are 7 30 p m Friday Feb 15 7 30 p m Saturday Feb 16 3 p m Sunday Feb 17 7 30 p m Thursday Feb 21 7 30 p m Friday Feb 22 and 7 30 p m Saturday Feb 23 Tickets are 12 8 for students and seniors To order tickets or reserve seats please call 262 551 6661 or send an email to theatretickets carthage

    aid program to attract outstanding music students established a preparatory division and a summer music academy began to develop several programs with conservatories throughout Asia Ghana and South America and created a new vision focusing on creativity diversity and entrepreneurship in the arts He increased gifts from alumni in scholarship funding in special touring and contemporary music programs and for the endowment Prior to becoming Dean of the School of Music Dr Woodward served four years as Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies where he doubled enrollment and applications and led the establishment and expansion of several doctoral and master s degree programs In 2010 he served as interim Provost Vice President for Academic Affairs leading Ithaca College in the formation of a new ten year strategic plan focusing on academic enhancement elevation and holistic education A strong supporter of diversity he led a program of minority pre doctoral fellows for the School of Humanities and Sciences Dr Woodward earned his bachelor s degree from the University of Connecticut master s degree from Ithaca College and Doctor of Musical Arts from Cornell University He joined Ithaca s Department of Music Theory History and Composition as a composer in 1984 becoming a full professor in 2000 He previously served on the music faculty at Cornell and at Valparaiso University and was an ongoing guest of the Sanford Visiting Scholar Program in the School of Music at Yale University Dr Woodward is married to Penelope a decorated public school music teacher and has three college age children Carthage at a Glance Enrollment 2 500 full time students 3 400 total students Freshman Snapshot Average high school GPA 3 3 Average midrange ACT score 22 27 Academics More than 50 areas of study Average class size 17 Faculty 12 1 student to faculty
