  • Best Western Shuttle — Security — Campus Life — Carthage College
    Western Hotel Hours of operation During the hours of 7 a m and midnight this shuttle service runs once an hour Between the hours of midnight and 7 a m this service will be provided upon request by contacting the Carthage College Security Department at 262 551 5911 Route The Carthage College Best Western Shuttle route has designated areas where it will pick up students from and transport them to the Best Western The designated areas are the TWC flagpole in front of Lentz Hall and the front lobby area of the Best Western Hotel The shuttle is required to wait five minutes at each designated stop before proceeding to the next stop The College reserves the right to limit or change route service on the situational needs of the campus Shuttle users rules of conduct Common courtesy rules at all times Please sit in a designated seat and use of seatbelts is required No smoking open intoxicants loud music or distracting behavior is allowed Maximum occupancy is limited by the vehicle design Overcrowding is not allowed The driver cannot deviate from the shuttle route Please do not ask The driver may ask you to leave the shuttle if you

    Saturday Sunday 6 00 am 11 00 pm ALCOHOL OTHER DRUG ABUSE AODA POLICY Carthage recognizes that students often need education and assistance because a person significant to them is affected by chemical dependency or because they require support in their own decisions not to use or abuse alcohol and or other drugs Since chemical dependency frequently precedes AODA Carthage wishes to provide education and assistance to any students displaying the signs of such harmful involvement Chemical dependency is a serious illness that can be treated successfully if identified early if appropriate referral to community agencies is made and if adequate support is afforded those who are in the process of recovery Carthage adheres to the laws of the State of Wisconsin regarding the consumption of alcohol thereby recognizing that individuals under the age of 21 are not of legal drinking age Given that the majority of the student body at Carthage is under the legal age for purposes of the possession or use of alcohol the College policy accommodates that majority 2011 Calendar Year 206 reported alcohol and illegal drug incidents involving 778 students 2010 Calendar Year 242 reported alcohol and illegal drug incidents involving 554 students 2009 Calendar Year 206 reported alcohol and illegal drug incidents involving 630 students All violations of Carthage policies or state and federal laws will be prosecuted by College officials Students rights and responsibilities outlined herein adhere to the standard administrative practice regarding discipline and students rights The entire campus community must assume the goals of promoting and enforcing a sense of personal responsibility and exhibiting responsible behavior toward the consumption of alcohol 1 The possession manufacture sale use consumption of delivery of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances or substances or paraphernalia associated with the use of alcohol or other controlled substances by students their guests or visitors on the campus of Carthage is prohibited except as noted in number 7 below This paraphernalia includes but is not limited to bottles and cans either empty or full bongs used for drinking or smoking bar like structures tappers kegs or waste containers in excess of 5 gallons The College reserves the right to inspect any and all parcels brought onto campus to confiscate alcoholic beverages or other controlled substances and the paraphernalia associated with the use of alcohol and other controlled substances and to initiate disciplinary procedures Carthage respects each student s right to privacy but reserves the right to inspect students rooms and packages as outlined in the Student Community Code see Student Room Entry 2 Use or possession of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances by students off campus is governed and controlled by the laws of the state and or local law enforcement agencies Carthage will cooperate with these agencies and owners or proprietors of bars taverns restaurants or other establishments to counteract known violations of College policy and state or local laws by students or student groups associated with the College 3 Students not using alcohol or other drugs themselves but knowingly associating with other students or student groups who are violating the College AODA policy will be subject to the same disciplinary action as those students who were actually violating the College AODA policy 4 Undesirable conduct stemming from off campus use of AODA is subject to disciplinary action by the College as outlined herein 5 Any group or organization that permits undesirable conduct stemming from off campus AODA is subject to disciplinary action by the College as outlined herein 6 The residence halls at Carthage shall be considered student Alcohol and Drug free zones at all times Likewise WOH s Place shall be considered a student Alcohol and Drug free zone at all times during the academic school year 7 The College reserves the right to serve alcoholic beverages at its discretion at events in the Todd Wehr Center or elsewhere on or off campus with the exceptions noted above to individuals who are of legal drinking age The College may invite students who are of legal drinking age to such events 8 Students are not permitted to transport or consume alcohol or other drugs on College sponsored trips Sanctions for Alcohol Violations 1 Violations of Carthage AODA Policy will be considered cumulative during the entire period the student is enrolled as a Carthage student in determining disciplinary action for repeated violations of the policy 2 Disciplinary action will be taken with regard to the use or abuse of controlled substances A violation may result in a student s suspension or dismissal from Carthage Local law enforcement agencies may be summoned AODA assessment may be required fines may be assessed and action similar to other AODA violations may be imposed 3 Disciplinary sanctions increase in their severity with repeated student infractions of the alcohol and other drug abuse policy Disciplinary sanctions may also be increased in their severity with the presence of common sources of alcohol The following sanctions shall be employed a First Offense one point assessed 25 fine imposed may be required to attend an AODA Workshop failure to attend workshop will result in further disciplinary action possible community services or educational assignment and or possible chemical use assessment evaluation and or treatment paid for by the student b Second Offense two points assessed 150 fine imposed required to attend an AODA Workshop failure to attend workshop will result in further disciplinary action disciplinary probation and or suspension possible community service or educational assignment possible disciplinary probation and or suspension and possible chemical dependence evaluation assessment and or treatment paid for by the student c Third Offense two points assessed 250 fine imposed and or suspension dismissal from he College length dependent upon severity of accompanying offenses mandatory chemical dependency evaluation assessment and or treatment paid for by the student and possible community service d Subsequent Violations of the AODA Policy two points assessed a 350 fine imposed and suspension dismissal from the College length dependent on severity of accompanying offenses recommendation for chemical dependency evaluation assessment

    5 00 AM to begin snowplowing procedures During a snowstorm crews will attempt to maintain the campus drives only Parking lots will be plowed only after the storm has ended During plowing activities any vehicle parked or abandoned on a campus drive in a fire lane or otherwise illegally parked and interfering with plowing activities is subject to immediate tow without warning and at the owner s expense The plowing areas in order of priority and scheduling are Campus main drives Sidewalks from residence halls and commuter lots to the academic buildings Commuting student and employee Residential and unrestricted parking lots Secondary walks and service drives Clean up additional hand salting Campus houses Should the accumulation of snow become large enough that normal plowing will not adequately clear areas Carthage may declare a snow removal emergency During a snow removal emergency and upon notification via posters and announcements placed in the Todd Wehr Center and the eight residence halls students will be asked to move their vehicles in a specified order from lots to allow for a clean removal of all snow The notifications will identify the alternative parking location for that day and the sequence of lots to be cleared During a snow emergency vehicles remaining in lots that are scheduled to be cleared are subject to tow at the owner s expense At the very least these vehicles risk being stranded in snowdrifts due to plowing activities Carthage personnel will make all attempts to maintain a drivable path for vehicles through our lots and campus drives For safety considerations they must stay a safe distance from parked vehicles while plowing Carthage personnel are not responsible for removing snow from a parked vehicle Snow shovels may be checked out by students at the Todd Wehr Center Office to assist

    Denhart Hall Director and the Director of Student Involvement As the Director of Student Involvement Becky works closely with the student organizations on campus and is the point person for anyone looking to get involved on campus Becky recently completed her master s degree at Bowling Green State University in College Student Personnel and received her bachelor s degree in public relations at Illinois State University While at Bowling Green Becky advised the activities board and worked in Greek Affairs and Residence Life As an undergrad Becky took advantage of diverse service trip opportunities and was involved with orientation student activities and the campus radio station She s enjoyed unique experiences as an ACUHO I residence life intern at Brown University and a study abroad tour of the United Kingdom Besides working with exciting college students Becky enjoys cooking baking and has a secret love for mind numbing reality TV She is also newly married and has an addiction to her puppy Sammy Dean of Students Office Staff Jason Ramirez Associate Vice President for Student Life Gary Williams Associate Athletic Director for Education Services Nick Winkler Assistant Dean of Students Nina Fleming Director of Student Activities Courtney Drew Hall Director

    Midwest by attending Ripon College As an undergrad at Ripon Courtney played varsity soccer swam on the varsity swim team was active in student government and the programming board She was also a member of the Orientation Committee Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was also an RA She received her undergraduate degree in history with a minor in educational studies After completing her student teaching Courtney decided to try out a full time career in Higher Education Courtney moved from Ripon Wisconsin to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to work as a Resident Director at Northern Michigan University in Marquette Michigan While in Marquette she advised Primetime Productions the programming board for the Housing and Residence Life Department and the hall government for Van Antwerp Hall Courtney studied Psychology as well as Training and Development during her time at Northern Michigan University Courtney is very excited to at Carthage College and to be back in Wisconsin after three years in the UP In her spare time she enjoys knitting baking reading and swimming She also enjoys playing cribbage and Euchre She is looking forward to living and working with the students of Carthage this upcoming year Dean of Students Office
