  • Biography — Christine Renaud — College College
    where she also serves as translator and photographer In 2010 she worked at the University of Bologna s Excavations at Ostia the ancient port of Rome She involves Carthage students in her excavation work every summer Professor Renaud came to Carthage in 1995 from Bucknell University She has also taught at Duquesne University the University of Texas at Austin and Wayne State University where she earned her B A Phi Beta Kappa and M A in Latin Overseas she has lectured in Rome for Temple University and for the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies then a Stanford Overseas program In 1986 she received the Fulbright Hays Research Grant for Italy She then went on to earn her Ph D Phi Kappa Phi in classics and classical archaeology from the University of Texas at Austin Professor Renaud s interests focus on different aspects of the Roman world including the history of Rome art architecture archaeology urban history of Rome and the poet Vergil She regularly leads class trips to Greece Italy and Turkey The American Institute for Roman Culture has named her to their Board of Advisors Outside of the classroom and the field she has served as the Course Director

  • Biography — James Ripley — Carthage College
    the Eastman School of Music where he was the associate conductor of the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Wind Orchestra and as conductor of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at the River Campus of the University of Rochester He also was associate director of bands at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and a faculty member at Luther College He taught in the public schools of Iowa and Minnesota for 11 years Prof Ripley is an active arranger and editor of wind ensemble music His performing edition of Howard Hanson s Triumphal Ode for Military Band is published by Carl Fischer and his arrangements for The Donald Hunsberger Wind Library are available through Warner Bros Publications He collaborated with Morton Gould on the completion of the American Ballads for band and has also made an edition of Howard Hanson s Pan and the Priest for chamber winds and piano He has authored several articles that have appeared in The Instrumentalist Wind Works BD Guide and the Journal of Band Research His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Secretary National Band Association Music Educators National Conference Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma honorary
