Director CCBC Foundation Additional Program Specific Scholarships Officer James Naim Memorial Scholarship varies annually The James Naim Scholarship serves to remember the police officer James W Naim Officer James Naim was killed on March 15 2001 while serving his duties in Aliquippa Pennsylvania as a police officer The friends of Officer James Naim organized this Scholarship so that students would have a source of financial aid to make college affordable Eligibility Criteria Must be a U S Citizen Must be of good moral character and demonstrate community concern leadership Applicant with a conviction of a felony will not be considered Must complete the CCBC Foundation Application along with the Naim Scholarship Application which can be obtained at the CCBC Marketing Office in the Student Services Center Must have completed a minimum of 12 academic credits Transfer credits applied directly to chosen program of study will also be considered Must have a minimum GPA of 2 0 and submit transcripts of all course work completed Must maintain the minimum GPA requirement each semester and submit a record of standing after the fall semester to the scholarship committee Must be enrolled at CCBC taking at least 6 credit hours per semester Class registration schedule or acceptance letter must be included with application The scholarship is open to any academic or vocational minded student Preference will be given to those who demonstrate a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in law enforcement public safety or community service and have declared a major in one of the following programs Criminal Justice Police Pre Service Fire Science EMT or other public safety related field Applicants with demonstrated financial need shall be given preference All applicants must submit an essay no more than 500 words addressing specific questions Applications must be accompanied by official transcript for all coursework completed as well as an acceptance letter and class registration schedule from CCBC All applications documentation and essays are due by July 26 selection will be by August 2 The money can be used for tuition fees supplies and books First National Bank Culinary Arts Scholarship 1 000 For several years First National Bank has generously donated to the CCBC Foundation As of November 2011 the three year donation amount reached 30 000 To honor this contribution the Foundation created the First National Bank Culinary Arts Scholarship This scholarship provides funds to assist a culinary arts student enrolled in that course of study at CCBC Eligibility Criteria The student must be enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at CCBC The student must be in good standing The student is entering the second year of the program The student must have applied for financial aid The student must complete the scholarship application and submit the required essay Applicant will be selected by the Culinary faculty and awarded at the CCBC Foundation annual HollyDay gala Student will not be notified in advance Robert D Thompson Jr Memorial Scholarship 1 000 Established in 2011 by Southern Pines Trucking the purpose of this scholarship is to provide a source of scholarship assistance to a full time student enrolled in a course of study at Community College of Beaver County Eligibility Criteria Applicant must be a full time student enrolled at CCBC Applicant who is or has a family member in the trucking industry or is pursuing a degree around the care and preservation of animals and or their natural habitat Please explain how this pertains to you Applicant must be in good standing Applicant must have a minimum 2 0 GPA Applicant must have applied for financial aid Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application by the first Friday of May to the Executive Director CCBC Foundation CV Smith III Scholarship of Excellence in History varies annually CV Smith III a retired CCBC faculty member created this unique scholarship to provide financial assistance to a full time student enrolled in the Associate of Arts in History Program offered at CCBC Eligibility Criteria Applicant must be a full time student enrolled at CCBC in the Associate Arts in History Program Applicant must be in top 10 percent of graduating class from a high school in Beaver County No home school or cyber school graduates are eligible Applicant must have a minimum 3 0 GPA Applicant must have applied for financial aid Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application by the first Friday of May to the CCBC Foundation Applicant must submit a 250 word essay on one of the following questions and no internet usage is allowed o Distinguish between the first and second Viking Ages o What was the key to Caesar Augustus political genius o What was the significance of the reigns of Edward II and Richard II o The U S Constitution is based upon compromise Explain o Distinguish between the First and Second Revolutions in France o In what respects was the sinking of Titanic a precursor to the events of the Twentieth Century o Distinguish among Fascism National Socialism and Communism o Why should NASA s original target have been Mars rather than the Moon o Compare and contrast Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin o Compare and contrast Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Scholarships for Current CCBC Students The CCBC Foundation Scholarships 500 1 000 per award for Fall and Spring semesters Eligibility Criteria Standard CCBC Foundation Application must be completed Must submit a recommendation letter from a CCBC faculty member Essay 250 words detailing your ambitions and goals as well as why you feel you need this scholarship award The CCBC Foundation Scholarship committee will determine recipients Grade point average will be taken into consideration when choosing recipient s Money can be used for tuition fees books and supplies Must demonstrate financial need FASFA application must be submitted to Financial Aid office Deadlines for submissions
