    Horizontal Running Roommates and Company May 2013 April 2013 Time Machine for a Day Chart Corrections to Bring to Nautical Science March 2013 YOLO Because This is the Game of Life Coasties and Girl Scout Cookies February 2013 January 2013 December 2012 And a Happy New Year Vegetarian Alert November 2012 A Breakfast in Uniform Varsity Freshmen October 2012 September 2012 Cadet Profile SARAH KUKICH East Lyme CT Class of 2016 Major Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering ABOUT SARAH Entering my second year at the Coast Guard Academy I am a third class cadet in Delta Company and still a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering major I am a coxswain for the Men s Rowing team as I recover from shoulder reconstruction and hope to eventually return to rowing on the women s team Besides rowing I also participate in Cadet Activity Council Scouting Club Vice President Christian Bible Study Women s Leadership Council Aviation Club and of course the Blog Club When I m not at school I love to read sail fish shoot and develop photography Despite the challenges of the Academy I have maintained close relationships with friends and family at home in East Lyme Connecticut As a Connecticut native I had early interest in the Coast Guard Academy because of its close proximity It was not until my senior year of high school however that I actually learned about the missions of the Coast Guard and decided they were a better fit for me than those of the Navy or Army The Coast Guard unlike any other college or military service I have seen is a true family Not only do I trust my classmates but after being in the fleet this past summer I also trust all of the men and women who I met

    March 2013 February 2013 January 2013 It Only Gets Better Home Sweet Home December 2012 November 2012 October 2012 September 2012 Cadet Profile Allie Roesch Manalapan NJ Class of 2016 Major Government ABOUT ALLIE Hey guys My name is Allyson Roesch but everyone calls me Allie Though I m from Manalapan New Jersey born and raised a proud Jersey girl I come to the Academy all the way from good ole Marion Alabama I spent a year at prep school Marion Military Institute as a self prep I was not part of the Academy Scholars program but I went to the prep school on my own after not getting into the class of 2015 So if any of you readers out there don t get into the Academy on your first shot do not get discouraged There are other options and quite honestly I am happy that I did not get in right away Feel free to ask me any questions about prepping I m always glad to help out Prep school was a great experience and made Swab Summer and USCGA life easier to handle I also spent two years in the U S Coast Guard Auxiliary before I became a cadet so I had some prior experience with the Coast Guard I come from a small family My father owns his own business my mother works at Macy s and my older sister goes to civilian college I m the only active duty military member in my entire family They have all been a great support and are always at Academy events cheering me on While at home I enjoy playing guitar singing surfing tanning and sleeping At the Academy I swim as well as run track in the spring Go Bears I am also involved in the

    rivers or the occasional ocean Growing up I never really knew anything about the Coast Guard I ve wanted to join the military since I was eight but I always thought it would be in another branch such as the Air Force Coincidentally my step mother is an Air Force veteran and she was the one who gave me the idea of going to a service academy I didn t really know much about them but when I found out that I would be going to college as well as be in the military it was a hard offer to pass up I originally looked at the Air Force Academy but I ve always been interested in Marine Biology My junior year of high school I actually went on an ecological trip to Costa Rica to work with leatherback sea turtles at an English research station I learned that the Coast Guard Academy offered an MES major so I decided to visit and loved it I definitely recommend visiting the Academy if you are unsure In the year that I ve been here I have been able to travel all over Florida the East Coast the Caribbean and Canada all paid for by the Coast Guard My dream billet is to work on a fast response cutter in the South of Florida doing drug and migrant interdiction where I actually got to work for five weeks this past summer The Coast Guard Academy has opened so many doors of opportunities for me things normal college students can only dream of So here I am and I definitely do not regret my decision Although it is very different from a traditional college and sometimes it gets stressful with so many obligations there are definitely many opportunities to get involved and have

    February 2011 December 2010 November 2010 Cadet Profile Meredith Anderson Ontario NY Class of 2014 Major Civil Engineering Minor Government ABOUT MEREDITH My name is Meredith Anderson and I am a freshman here at the Coast Guard Academy I am originally from a small town in upstate New York called Ontario My mother is an educational administrator and my father is a real estate broker and I am an only child I graduated from an all girls Catholic high school in 2010 with an appointment to the Academy Here at the Academy I have gotten involved with CASA Cadets Against Sexual Assault MUN Model United Nations St Francis DeSales Society Catholic Club Bowling Club Swimming and anticipate doing Water Polo in the spring I have a full course load as does pretty much everyone else here at the Academy My schedule includes Macroeconomics Chemistry Nautical Science Principles of Fitness and Wellness Swimming Bears Calculus 2 and English All of the professors here are awesome and make it really manageable Not only are all the professors here awesome but so are the people who surround you Everyone is willing to help anyone and anyone will drop what they are doing to

    I am the very last person to submit my bio This is not something I am proud of however it is a reflection of the thought that I have put into this brief introduction of Brooklyn Andreasen That s me I am currently 19 years old but will be out of my teens on February 6th as I finally turn 20 I am from the small town of Ceres California an agricultural area that allows its residents to drive to San Francisco for the day This means that I live in the Central Valley of California and can easily travel to enjoy the snow and ski in the winter and can also visit my family at yes the beach in Southern California I am also an International track Government major at the United States Coast Guard Academy After speaking with this program s advisor and relating my inability to draft anything that communicates who I am she suggested that I write about something that has impacted me So I will instead say that my home is a very special place for me and more importantly is home to my friends and family These are the people who inspire me every day to attempt something extraordinary I look to them for guidance and in return receive healthy amounts of sarcasm but also support I love to read have you ever been grounded from reading a book It s not fun ride horses sleep listen to music and spend time with friends and family I like being involved in community activities as well those going on at the Academy and am involved in the International Council Mock Trials and Cadet Law Society here at the Academy These are the clubs that I am most active in As of right now my aspirations
