    Cadet Profile Lili Simon Las Vegas NV Class of 2015 Major Government ABOUT LILI My name is Lili Simon and I am a 2 c cadet at U S Coast Guard Academy I hail from Las Vegas Nevada That being said I m sure you re thinking Do they even have water in Nevada I am here to tell you that as a matter of fact there is water in the Battle Born state that I call home I m a Government major with a concentration in Public Policy and Law and I absolutely love it While academics are my first priority I also take time to enjoy the various clubs that are offered here at USCGA I m a coxswain for the Women s Varsity Crew Team I am also President of Jewish Hillel Club and a member of the Women s Leadership Council and Cadets Against Sexual Assault CASA My blog will focus on cadet life here at the Academy so you can have a perspective of what life is like here in good ol New London I would love to answer any questions that you may have about the Academy and the application process the clubs that

    January 2011 November 2010 October 2010 Cadet Profile Brianna Townsend Colchester CT Class of 2014 Major Civil Engineering ABOUT BRIANNA I came all the way to the Academy from Colchester Connecticut which is about twenty minutes away Even though I have lived so close to the Academy my entire life I did not consider going here until the end of my sophomore year of high school I am part of the class of 2014 and I am a civil engineering major My mother works at Pratt Whitney and my father works in heat treatment I also have two sisters one of whom is older and just graduated from Bryant University and I have a younger sister who is still in high school My cat and dog could also be considered my siblings very hairy siblings I played many different sports in high school such as basketball and volleyball but I decided to try something new here and I joined the boxing team Boxing has been so much fun and my best friend boxes with me so that makes it even better except for the days we have to fight each other but we just laugh about it afterwards I also

    2012 March 2012 February 2012 January 2012 December 2011 November 2011 October 2011 Cadet Profile Cameo Ulbricht Ocean Park WA Class of 2015 Major Government ABOUT CAMEO Hello I am Cameo Ulbricht born and raised in Washington State I come from a small town in southwest Washington which in my opinion one of the best places to live I have a younger brother and two dogs at home Some of my hobbies include camping scrapbooking reading listening to music and baking I enjoy running cross country and playing basketball too Being the first in my family to join the military I have a strong support system at home which is helpful when I have rough days Before coming to the Academy I spent a year at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell New Mexico as a scholar for the Academy The extra year was beneficial in preparing me as a cadet at the Academy The course load was just as tough and a lot of the military side of things was similar It was difficult at first being far from home but having the friends I became close to was helpful The friends you make at the Academy will help

    the same house since I was four with my parents and my siblings My sister is a year behind me here at the Academy though I swear I didn t influence her and my brother is in high school My dad is a mechanic which was great when I had a car I never had to take my car to get the oil changed and if something went funky he was always there to fix it My mom is the supervisor of clinical audiology at the University of North Texas but I just think it s easier to say she s a college professor If you can think of your archetypical Texan that s me I ve been riding horses since I was five years old I love shooting my dad s numerous guns I adore taking the four wheeler out to the pond for some fishing and yes I do occasionally wear a cowboy hat In high school I was a swimmer and a band nerd flute but an unfortunate shoulder injury caused the end of my career in both of those So logically I play rugby here at the Academy I saw my first rugby match on TV

    March 2010 February 2010 January 2010 December 2009 November 2009 Cadet Profile Jessica Ward Littleton CO Class of 2013 Major Mechanical Engineering ABOUT JESSICA I was born and raised in Littleton Colorado along with my older brother who is currently serving in the Army My father is also a Marine and my mother is a Physical Therapist she is great when it comes to sports injuries I had a goldfish named Goldie for years great name I know until he died fairly recently Sad day I ll be the first to admit I live a very sheltered life but I m fine with that I played soccer volleyball and basketball at some point or another in high school but mostly row crew here at the Academy I love to ski hike and bike I generally love being in the mountains and really miss seeing them in the distance I love to travel and have every summer since I was 12 the total country count is around 30 32 depending on what technically counts as a country Gibraltar for instance My favorite color is blue although it depends on what type of blue and my favorite food is chocolate I love

    Cadet Journalist Program and to not only share with the world what life as a cadet is like but to hopefully pique the interest of future applicants to Academy and U S Coast Guard the small service with a big mission I was born and raised in Dover Delaware and moved 50 miles north of Dover to Hockessin before my sophomore year of high school In 2008 I graduated from the Charter School of Wilmington and was honored to serve in a number of leadership and community service oriented roles while in high school As a senior I was elected co captain of the men s swimming team and helped lead the team to a state runner up title In addition I was elected Vice President and later President of my school s Habitat for Humanity chapter during my junior and senior years respectively Lastly I was inducted into the National Honor Society and became an AP Scholar with Honor recipient At the Academy I am a Business Management major hoping to focus on leadership and organizational development I am a member of the Color Guard which presents the colors our nation the five armed services and the Corps of Cadets at each Regimental Review in the fall and spring as well as at special events and parades around New England Additionally I am a shooter on the Combat Arms Team which competes against West Point the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy using service specific pistols rifles and shotguns C A T also teaches cadets the basics to becoming Boarding Officers after graduation or even specialists in maritime law enforcement and homeland security My favorite pastimes at the Academy include eating the food s apparently the best of all the academies sleeping only on the weekends and exercising
