    2014 July 2014 June 2014 May 2014 April 2014 March 2014 February 2014 January 2014 December 2013 November 2013 October 2013 September 2013 August 2013 July 2013 June 2013 May 2013 April 2013 March 2013 February 2013 January 2013 December 2012 November 2012 October 2012 September 2012 August 2012 July 2012 June 2012 May 2012 April 2012 March 2012 February 2012 November 2011 cadet blogs Class of 2015 Billet Night The Cadet Experience Class of 2015 Permanent link All Posts Although this month was full of schoolwork and fun adventures there is only one thing on my mind and that is BILLET NIGHT Billet Night is only four days away and I can barely sleep or think straight about anything other than Thursday night Now you may be wondering why is she so excited about Billet Night What is that Well for anyone asking themselves these questions Billet Night is the ceremony at which the first class cadets seniors find out where they will be stationed after graduation for either two or three years I don t know all of the details about what exactly happens that night because they try to keep it a secret to make it as exciting as possible I know that there will be a dinner before then our names are called and we walk up on stage to open our billet in front of the rest of the class It is going to be such an exciting and nerve racking night for all of us in the Class of 2015 I personally am hoping to go to Portsmouth Virginia on a 270 cutter Some of my friends want different types of cutters located all over the country from Hawaii to Alaska to Florida Some want sectors and some want flight school For me Billet

    Statistics Request More Information Congressional Staff Meet the Admissions Staff LTJG Darnell Talbert Thank you for your interest in the many opportunities at the Coast Guard Academy My job takes me all over the country to connect with students and organizations that bring talent and diversity to the Corps of Cadets I originally enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2009 and quickly earned my rating as a Maritime Enforcement Specialist As a result I participated in numerous search and rescue and law enforcement missions in the southeastern United States working with units and teams that included Academy graduates In 2010 I deployed to the Gulf of Mexico to respond to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill that had catastrophic consequences for the Gulf and shoreline communities I earned my commission in 2012 and entered the Coast Guard reserves as an ensign soon joining the Academy Admissions team As a graduate of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Division I track athlete I am in a good position to compare the experience at a public university to the smaller more personal experience at the Academy I travel to New London about once a month and truly enjoy working with talented

    Action Medical PFE Preparation for Non Seniors Standardized Tests Statistics Request More Information Congressional Staff Meet the Admissions Staff LTJG Marvi Rivera I live in New Hampshire and travel mostly in the northeast to meet with students educators and organizations that can help diversify the Academy I frequently visit high schools represent the Academy at college fairs and host my own workshops I enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2006 and by 2013 had earned my bachelors and master s degrees plus a commission in the Reserves as an ensign I enjoyed my enlisted years driving boats performing boardings and escorting ships with dangerous cargo I was ready to take it to the next level as an officer Why not be in charge In contrast to the active forces which Academy graduates enter Reserve forces perform nearly all of the overseas defense support work the Coast Guard does Thus my first assignment was to a Coastal Riverine Squadron located in Newport Rhode Island where we trained for a deployment that has yet to occur I was excited to join the Admissions team a year later and work every day to help recruit our country s best future officer talent Originally
