    Additional Navigation Admission Requirements Deadlines and Fees Majors and Programs Ready to Apply Admission Requirements Core Requirements We know academics and atmosphere both matter to you when you choose a university So when you apply to CIU we keep in mind that you re more than just your grades and test scores We want to know about your dreams and goals and what you re looking for in a Christian university experience We want to learn about your relationship with Christ and with other people and your desire to serve them and Him Applicants must Submit an application essay demonstrating a strong Christian character Submit a transcript from an accredited high school a certificate of high school equivalency or a GED certificate or home school transcript Submit an SAT or ACT score Test scores are not needed if you re over age 24 or have attempted more than 24 hours from an accredited institution after high school graduation Submit a reference from a church leader We also recommend a thorough background in English grammar and composition two or more foreign language courses two units each of math and history and one unit of natural science We do accept transfer credits

    have a cumulative 2 0 grade point average on a 4 0 scale College courses you ve completed must be eligible for transfer to CIU Courses Eligible for Transfer Courses taken at another college or university must meet the following criteria In order to receive full credit for a course the course must be completed at a college university accredited by or having candidate status with a Regional Accrediting Organization ABHE TRACS or other accrediting agency recognized by the American Council on Education USDE Courses must be submitted on an official transcript Courses must be college level The student must have an earned grade of C or above Note A grade of S or P may not constitute a C or better A two hour course can meet the requirement of a three hour course but the student must make up the additional hour Complex Transfer Situations The associate provost makes decisions about complex transfer situations involving unaccredited institutions military transfers international schools and torchbearer schools The associate provost provides an assessment to the university registrar within 30 days of student submission See the undergraduate transfer policy supplement for details Standardized Test Acceptance Advanced Placement AP see Academic Catalog American

    application process as non transfer applicants All courses you ve earned at another institution may not transfer to CIU To transfer courses into an M A or M Div degree at CIU the courses must be Earned from an accredited institution Earned with a grade of 2 0 C or above Courses that fit into your program choice at CIU Other transfer information Up to but not exceeding 49 percent of the degree may be transferred Due to accreditation standards no credit for life experience may be given Not all programs offer the same transfer College of Education College of Intercultural Studies and College of Counseling students seeking to transfer credit must request permission through petition Seminary School of Ministry students may apply transfer credit to the free elective category only if a comparable CIU course is offered at the graduate level Complex Transfer Situations The academic dean of each specific college will handle complex transfer situations Unaccredited Institutions An unaccredited institution must be approved through a registrar review If your institution is approved transfer credit may be applied to your program Contact the CIU Registrar s Office for further details Approval of an institution is valid for three years
