  • CIU Students “Occupy Fleece” | Columbia International University
    scene at Occupy Fleece at 4 30 a m Click image to view a larger version CIU students get their first look at the renovated library January 17 2012 You ve heard of Occupy Wall Street But you ve probably never heard of Occupy Fleece It was more of a party than a protest On Jan 17 the G Allen Fleece Library at Columbia International University opened for the first time since a devastating fire in May 2010 closed the library for repairs and renovations CIU students celebrated the opening with Occupy Fleece Students camped out overnight in tents in a quad area outside the library and woke up to a celebration featuring music and an outdoor breakfast At 7 30 the library officially opened with the blowing of a shofar a ram s horn used in ancient times to signal a celebration The CIU mascot is the Ram Columbia TV station WIS was on hand and broadcast from Occupy Fleece periodically during its morning show from 5 to 7 a m Read their report here http www wistv com story 16538501 students celebrate library reopening at ciu Check out photos from Occupy Fleece and the opening of the library

  • CIU Names New Registrar | Columbia International University
    University has announced the appointment of Jennifer L Booth as university registrar She begins her duties Feb 1 Booth comes to CIU from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary SEBTS in Wake Forest N C where she served as assistant director of student resources In that role she exercised primary oversight of financial aid ministry referral and international student services along with other related duties Booth also teaches AP English Language and Composition online for Patrick Henry College Preparatory Academy in Purcellville Va and has taught courses for The College at Southeastern the undergraduate studies program at SEBTS Booth earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College of Florida in New Port Richey and a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary She received significant accompanying honors for both degrees CIU Associate Provost Dr Bryan Beyer says Booth is a skilled administrator and a capable leader A good registrar s office needs to work together to implement established university policy while providing friendly top notch customer service Beyer said Jennifer Booth is a good promoter of a team concept and brings an upbeat positive attitude to her new role Beyer also expressed his appreciation for Kathy Kroll who has

  • Former CIU President Returns to Teach | Columbia International University
    CIU Seminary School of Ministry That means that all four living presidents of CIU now have a role at the university CIU s third president Robertson McQuilkin serves as president emeritus He is a speaker and writer engaging in an extensive conference ministry across America and overseas and is a frequent CIU chapel speaker The fifth president Dr George Murray serves as chancellor traveling the world preaching and teaching recruiting students and working with major donors and alumni The current president is Dr Bill Jones who has served as president since 2007 Dr Johnny Miller answered a few questions as the CIU community gets reacquainted with him What will you teach at CIU I ll be teaching Bible courses primarily in the seminary This spring semester it will be the Gospel of John and the Pastoral Epistles What have you been doing over the years since you left CIU as president I was senior pastor of Calvary Church in Lancaster Penn for 10 years well the last years I was actually the teaching pastor I officially retired Oct 31 2009 Since then I ve been pastor at large which has included a lot of speaking in the United States and ministry to missionaries overseas I also was Distinguished Professor of Biblical Studies at Lancaster Bible College and Graduate School A friend John Soden and I have written a book which will be published by Kregel hopefully this spring What prompted you to return What prompted me to return to CIU was Bill Jones gracious invitation which came even before I had quite retired I am motivated to be as fruitful as possible as long as possible I have come to realize that the best way to do that with my background and gifts is to invest in the lives of
