    thanks God for His Word after the final verses were read Click image to view a larger version CIU student Cara Evans meditates on the words of the book of Revelation the final book of the Bible October 20 2011 Students at Columbia International University commemorated Authority of Scripture Week on campus with a public reading of the Bible in four days from Oct 25 to Oct 28 The Authority of Scripture is a CIU core value From a tent located in the center of campus students signed up to read in 15 minutes blocks from 7 a m to 11 p m Just before 3 30 p m on Oct 28 the final words of the Bible were read He who testifies to these things says Surely I am coming quickly Amen Even so come Lord Jesus The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all Amen Amen and applause was the response of dozens of students who had timed their day to be near the tent as the final chapters of the Bible were read CIU Student Senate President Jason Harms says reading through the Bible unites the CIU community in an active way It is

    time in its 88 year history beginning in the fall of 2012 The latest coach to be named is Eric Shick as the Women s Volleyball Coach Shick came to CIU in 2010 as the director of intramurals and manager of CIU s Moore Fitness Center Shick is known around South Carolina as the director of the Magnum Volleyball Club which has 26 teams and 250 participants throughout the state Prior to coming to CIU Eric coached volleyball at Columbia College in Columbia S C and at Cardinal Newman High School in Columbia S C where he was named the South Carolina Independent School Association SCISA Coach of the Year While attending the University of South Carolina Shick was a student coach under USC Head Coach Kim Hudson for three years Eric graduated from Ben Lippen High School in Columbia S C and earned a bachelor s degree in Exercise Science from The University of South Carolina CIU Athletic Director Kim Abbott says Shick brings the kind of experience that CIU needs to start a new volleyball program Eric is respected around the state for his knowledge of the game and administrative gifts that have made the Magnum Volleyball Club

  • CIU Announces First Cross Country Coach | Columbia International University
    Cross Country Coach October 10 2011 As Columbia International University gears up for intercollegiate athletics for the first time in its 88 year history the school has hired its first men s and women s cross country coach Judson Jud Brooker comes to CIU from Cedarville University in Cedarville Ohio where he has served as the assistant track coach and assistant cross country coach since 2009 Brooker was also a track and cross country standout as a student at Cedarville University where he majored in Physical Education Brooker was a two year captain of the track and cross country team a National Christian College Athletic Association NCCAA All American an American Mideastern Conference First Team performer in cross country and qualified four times for the NAIA championships Brooker says coming to CIU is almost a surreal opportunity It has been my dream to start a program and to do it at a biblically sound and truly Christ centered university is amazing Brooker said CIU Athletic Director Kim Abbott says Brooker is the perfect fit for CIU With Jud s competitive and championship background at Cedarville University he will bring talent discipline and quality to CIU s athletic program paving the

  • CIU Dedicates “Tool Shed” | Columbia International University
    the men s housing unit that was renovated over the summer West Residence Hall Matt Densky an RA who lives in West calls it a tool shed Densky represented the residents of West as a featured speaker at the Oct 6 dedication of West attended by the CIU Board of Trustees Densky an alumnus of the CIU undergraduate program and a current student in the CIU seminary thanked Tobin Cassels of Southeastern Freight Lines for his family s financial gift that made the renovation possible Densky then compared CIU students to tools being sharpened for Kingdom work and their renovated living quarters a tool shed This gift has provided a nicer tool shed for us to be stored in Densky said to a chuckling crowd of students faculty and staff gathered outside West on a beautiful autumn day Cassels who is a member of the CIU Board and president of Southeastern Freight Lines expressed thankfulness at his ability to participate in God s plan for CIU and said he hopes to be involved in the ministry of the beautiful feet that reside in West How beautiful are the feet of those that bring good news Cassels read from Romans 10
