    that apply to use of computing facilities in those departments In these ways we intend to enable high quality services and maximize productivity while protecting the rights of all members of the community Noncompliance and Sanctions Information Technology Services will suspend or terminate all computing privileges of any individuals without notice who engage in improper computing activities Serious cases as determined by ITS will be referred to the Dean of the College the Dean of the Faculty Human Resources or the President for disciplinary action Such disciplinary action may include the suspension expulsion or termination of the offending individual as appropriate and as determined at the sole discretion of Colgate University Where violation of state and federal law is involved cases will be referred to the proper legal authorities for action The following serves to provide examples of violations of computing or computing facility policies at Colgate University The list of violations includes but is not limited to Malicious misuse Examples using IDs or passwords assigned to others disrupting the network destroying information removing software from public computers spreading viruses sending e mail that threatens or harasses other people a Class A misdemeanor under New York State law invading the privacy of others and subscribing others to mailing lists or providing the e mail addresses of others to bulk mailers without their approval Unacceptable use of software and hardware Examples knowingly or carelessly running or installing unlicensed software on any computer system or network giving another user a program intended to damage the system running or installing any program that places an excessive load on a computer system or network violating terms of applicable software licensing agreements including copying or reproducing any licensed software or violating copyright laws and their fair use provisions through inappropriate downloading reproduction or dissemination of copyrighted music movies video software text images or other materials using imaging equipment to duplicate alter and subsequently reproduce official documents Inappropriate access Examples unauthorized use of a computer account providing misleading information in order to obtain access to computing facilities using the campus network to gain unauthorized access to any computer system connecting unauthorized equipment to the campus network unauthorized attempts to circumvent data protection schemes to uncover security loopholes including creating and or running programs that are designed to identify security loopholes and or decrypt intentionally secure data knowingly or carelessly performing an act that will interfere with the normal operation of computers terminals peripherals or networks deliberately wasting or overloading computing resources such as printing too many copies of a document or other activities Inappropriate use of electronic mail and Internet access E mail communications are subject to the Campus Expression Policy and other statements of conduct as published in the Student Handbook Faculty Handbook or Staff Handbook Personnel Policies and Benefits Handbook for Administrative Clerical Secretarial Technical and Security Staff and Personnel Policies and Benefits Handbook for Buildings and Grounds Staff as well as all applicable federal and state laws In addition other activities that threaten

    on our media servers A minimum of two weeks notice must be given prior to the date of delivery Live Streaming Colgate works with a company called LiveStream to deliver live events in real time from our campus to the world via the Internet Events that have been streamed in the past have been funneled through the Colgate Communications office and the Alumni office in order to promote them to attract the greatest possible audience Live Streams are Recorded All Across Campus To inquire about streaming your campus events live to a targeted audience contact the Helpline to set up a meeting Media Library Server Ensemble Video Media content for classes and projects is often stored on our Ensemble Video server at MediaLibrary Colgate Edu Professors can also use this server to manage their own media content Ensemble Video see EnsembleVideo Com is an environment for the storage management and serving of media content Among the features of Ensemble streaming of media to various computer and mobile devices flexible customizable playlists for media security for controlled access to content direct connections to our Moodle LMS More information on accessing and using our Media Library server s here Media Conversion Drop off Service To use our drop off services contact the Helpline to describe the scope of your project Allow at least two weeks for the media conversion process to be completed Conversion services offered 35mm slides to digital images Small scale projects only For large scale scanning projects we recommend the faculty member hire a student whom we will train and supervise DVD and VHS to digital video for delivery through Moodle VHS to DVD DVD region conversions DVD or CD duplication LP records to digital audio Cassette audio tapes to digital audio Video Production The Digital Media Services team can partner with you to create a video that your department can use for promotional or informational purposes A successful video presentation will effectively present your ideas to your target audience in a very efficient manner Planning The first step of the process is to create a script or script outline that contains the main ideas of the production A good script will guide the rest of the process Production Whether in the studio or in the field cameras microphones and lighting will be used to capture the best shots to tell your story Editing Computer editing via Final Cut Pro is used to trim and rearrange the shots captured during production into a story that is guided by your script In addition to video voiceovers music and titles can be added to your video To discuss video production options for your project send an e mail to the Helpline to set up an appointment Poster Printing ITS and the Libraries will print posters for faculty and students for academic applications at no charge Supported poster applications include conference presentations class projects and research sessions To have your poster printed in Case Geyer The purpose must be academic no publicity
