  • New York State Museum Bulletins Project
    of project This site contains the results of a project under contract to the Commission on Preservation and Access 1994 96 to identify the most acceptable preservation and access techniques for brittle textual materials associated with oversized color images Volumes of the New York State Museum Bulletin have been used as the test case In Phase I Oversized Color Images Project five oversize color maps from the Museum Bulletin were scanned as were single frame color microfiche of the maps produced during an earlier Commission sponsored project and also 4 x 5 color transparencies Paper printouts were made from each digital version All of the digital versions over 300 images and the final report on Phase I are available online Quick Tour of the Oversized Color Images Project Phase I Project Report Complete Image Collection In Addressing Issues of Preservation and Access Phase Two the full text of four volumes of the Museum Bulletin 80 84 95 99 was microfilmed and scanned while all of the illustrations including the oversize maps were reproduced on color film and scanned The illustrations and texts are available online and a search capability has been provided The final report on Phase II is available

    faculty staff students and alumni In addition to gathering and organizing relevant facts and figures OPIR uses these data to carry out research and analyses regarding issues of importance to the university Second OPIR is responsible for broadening the general knowledge and understanding of the university and its activities The office maintains the university s on line Statistical Abstract as well as a brief Columbia fact sheet OPIR coordinates university reporting to governmental agencies and provides data to publishers of college guides The office represents the university in several organizations of selected colleges and universities for the purpose of exchanging information Third OPIR supports the University s efforts to assess learning outcomes for our students We are working to gather learning outcomes plans from every degree granting program at the University develop an institution wide structure within which this kind of assessment will take occur and establish a survey research function within the office To these ends OPIR works cooperatively with units within the Provost s Office as well as a wide range of other university offices in the Arts Sciences Columbia College SEAS Office of the Dean the University Senate various offices under the Executive Vice President for Administration
