    Courses Resources Postbac Overview Prospective Students Current Students Courses News Events News Psychology Events Colloquia Affiliated Events Events Calendar Research Grants and Awards Faculty Research Participate in Research Research Resources Faculty Grants Awards Psychology s faculty members are significant contributors to the science of psychology and consistently receive major grants from national agencies and foundations such as NIH NIMH NIE and NSF Not only is the department overall ranked highly in citation impact but a recent review found that the social psychology faculty were among the most productive in the world The current psychology department s faculty carries on the historical tradition of garnering prestigious national honors and awards for their contributions to the science of psychology Currently despite the relatively small size of the department there are nine faculty who are members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences four faculty who have been elected to the National Academy of Sciences three recipients of APA s Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award three recipients of APS s William James Award for Distinguished Achievements in Psychological Science as well as seven elected members of the Society for Experimental Psychology In addition to receiving individual awards for their scientific achievements Columbia s
