    transformation and start up team that created California State University Monterey Bay campus on the site of the former Fort Ord military installation He served as the Founding Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Founding Dean of the Social Behavioral Sciences and Founding Dean of Arts Humanities Creative Technologies Dr Armando Arias has broad experience working with public private institutions non profits and foundations to renew and enhance their missions and organizational structure In his capacity as a social ecological psychologist he helps stake holders and project participants identify goals common visions and outcome based initiatives for both small and large scale projects focused on improving the environment and human condition In recent years Dr Arias provided project leadership for the creation of the Big Sur Environment Institute in Big Sur California The Institute brings together world class thinkers and scientists to develop global environmental solutions on a regular basis Dr Arias was a key strategist behind the formation of BESTNET an international consortium of 20 corporations and institutions of higher education established at the Western Behavioral Sciences Institute in La Jolla California BESTNET was one of the first business education technology initiatives to provide access to education opportunities via the Internet In support of BESTNET Dr Arias received several million dollars of support from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education and the Digital Equipment Corporation BESTNET received honorable mention from The 20 Year Report by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education and the California Postsecondary Education Commission He was also presented with a Proclamation for this work by the California State Assembly Dr Arias has served as a consultant to the U S Department of Commerce U S Department of Education the National Telecommunication Information Administration and the Bureau of Land Management to name just

    Faculty Jarrett Bachman Assistant Professor College of Business Contact information 831 582 5223 jbachman csumb edu Office Joel and Dena Gambord Business Information Technology Building Room 322 Assistant Professor College of Business Contact information 831 582 5223 jbachman csumb edu Social media Twitter Biography Jarrett Bachman is an Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management at the CSUMB College of Business He received his Ph D in Tourism Management from Clemson SC University his Master of Natural Resources in Natural Resource Recreation Tourism Master of Education in Sport Management and Bachelor of Science Honors in Geography degrees from the University of Georgia Jarrett s teaching encompasses many issues in hospitality today ranging from Service Marketing to Event Management He also is a Co Founder of Looking Glass Strategic Research Consultants a firm which conducts market research and consults for festivals and events of all shapes and sizes His current research interests are in festival and event tourism management hospitality management outdoor and recreation based tourism in areas such as recreation conflict sustainable recreation and tourism development and marine and coastal based tourism Jarrett s previous research ranges from studying volunteers at the Bonnaroo Music Arts Festival and Austin City Limits Music Festival to assessing coastal tourism opportunities on the South Carolina coast for the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium and examining geographical and management implications of scheduling for the PGA Tour Most recently his work on festivals has been published in the Journal of Convention Event Tourism and Event Management An International Journal Jarrett is also an ad hoc editor for the Journal of Convention Event Tourism and has given presentations in at conferences in 2014 in Atlanta GA Charlotte NC Asheville NC Orlando FL and Denver CO Jarrett is an avid outdoorsman and traveler and has visited all 50 states in

    Behavioral Global Studies Contact information 831 582 4356 hbadiey csumb edu Social media Academia edu Education D Phil in Politics Oxford University 2010 MPhil Development Studies Oxford University 2007 BFA Painting and Video Art San Francisco Art Institute 2002 BA Political Science UC Berkeley 1998 Biography Naseem Badiey Assistant Professor of International Development and Humanitarian Action Naseem Badiey is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work focuses on global issues of poverty migration multiculturalism and social justice Her recent scholarly work has examined urban issues related to land rights and access displacement and post conflict reconstruction in Juba South Sudan This research is based on ethnographic fieldwork in South Sudan and draws on theoretical frameworks from anthropology political science development studies history and sociology as well as various methodological tools including documentary film and audio interviews participant observation and archival research Her current project Iran America personal stories of migration to California examines the varied experiences of the Iranian Diaspora in the US within an interdisciplinary humanities digital storytelling and visual narrative framework The project is funded by CalHumanities and a Faculty Incentive Grant made possible by the University Corporation in Monterey During the project s initial phase the team is developing a public web based digital video archive See www iranamericaproject org She has presented her work at UC Berkeley Oxford University San Francisco Art Institute Cal State University Monterey Bay as well as various international conferences each year Naseem uses a variety of disciplinary frames methodology tools and pedagogical approaches in her courses including narrative and non narrative film making creative writing performance research projects study abroad cultural interface experiential learning and community based service learning Publications The State of Post conflict Reconstruction land urban development and state building in Juba Southern Sudan Oxford James Currey 2014 Les dynamiques locales
