    csumb edu Office Joel and Dena Gambord Business Information Technology Building Room 209 Professor School of Computing Design Contact information 831 582 3602 ybyun csumb edu Education University of Florida Gainesville FL Computer and Information Science and Engineering Ph D 2003 Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology Taejon Korea Computer Science M S 1993 Kyungpook National University Daegu Korea Computer Engineering B E 1991 Biography Dr YoungJoon Byun is a professor in the School of Computing and Design at California State University Monterey Bay Dr Byun received his B E in Computer Engineering from the Kyungpook National University Daegu Korea in 1991 his M S in Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology Daejon Korea in 1993 and his Ph D in computer and information science and engineering from the University of Florida Gainesville FL in 2003 Before joining to California State University Monterey Bay he was an assistant professor at the Pennsylvania State University at Erie PA from 2004 to 2006 Between 1993 and 1998 he worked for the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute Daejon Korea as a member of research staff His research interests include cost effective design and validation of softwaredevelopment for a communication system He has proposed and demonstrated a pattern based software development methodology that emphasizes the analysis and validation of important functionalities of a communication system in the early stage of a software development He has proposed several communication patterns for the specification of a system and showed feasibility of them in a large scale software development He is also interested in software development environments and tools distance e Learning and real time systems Dr Byun has been involved in several research and development projects in companies and universities Some of the projects include software testing analysis tool for
