    CSUMB Home News Alum receives national recognition at NCAA tournament CSU Monterey Bay alumna Lisa Fortier was named Rookie Coach of the Year after her first season at the helm at Division I Gonzaga University The award was given out at the annual Women s Basketball Coaches Association meeting at the NCAA Women s Final Four in Tampa Fortier graduated from CSUMB in 2004 with a degree in Human Communication Longtime Otter fans may remember her as Lisa Mispley an All California Pacific Conference selection in her two seasons at CSUMB She was an NAIA All Academic team member in 2003 and was named CSUMB s Female Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2004 Lisa Fortier HCom 2004 is honored by the Women s Basketball Coaches Association These awards are about universities communities coaching staffs and mostly about players she told the Seattle Times The young women on our team the way they compete and work to get better is inspiring Fortier who was promoted after seven years as an assistant on Gonzaga s staff led the team to a 26 8 finish and its seventh consecutive NCAA tournament appearance Her team made it to the Sweet 16 after a

    radio producer compile sound bites from players and others around the league He also works on video production skills he learned in CSUMB s Teledramatic Arts and Technology program I follow players coaches front office staff on a daily basis what we do in the community and NBA as a whole The draft summer league free agency everything he said It s been nothing short of amazing He started mapping out a plan years before he actually got the job In 2003 he traveled around the country visiting baseball parks along the way I talked to a lot of people about the industry Everyone had stories about how they got started but the one common element was an internship he said It was a lesson he took to heart He followed the Warriors while growing up in Fremont His official relationship with the team started in 2007 when he secured one of those coveted internships He needed some creativity to nail it down An e mail query solicited an automatic response the standard thank you for your interest brush off He wasn t deterred He attended a game asked to see the staff member who had signed the e mail and made up a story he said claiming that he had been told a job was available for him The staffer didn t buy the story but was impressed enough to give Leslie a business card and tell him to call next season That led to his first job with the team Even the prospect of a VERY long commute from Pacific Grove to Oakland every Friday by bus didn t deter him He caught a 5 a m bus from Monterey to San Jose transferred to another bus to get to the Fremont subway station then on to Oakland

    OtterCard 1098 t CSUMB Home csc OtterCard The OtterCard serves primarily as a student identification card to receive the following services Library card Campus shuttle and MST bus pass Otter Sports Center pass Key into the residential halls and other buildings on campus Discount card at participant retailers You can load money on your OtterCard and use it as a debit card at Dining facilities on campus Campus bookstore Learn about meal plans Buy a commuter meal plan A 10 00 replacement fee is charged for all lost stolen or damaged cards Do not do the following with your card Leave in direct sunlight for example on the dash of a car Expose to extreme heat or open flames Expose to organic solvents thinners mineral spirits Machine wash Use as an ice scraper or scraping tool Crimp punch holes bend or twist card Re laminate Immerse in alcohol Isopropyl ethanol methyl etc Bite Pound with a pen or tool Trouble shooting your Ottercard Meal plan If your card doesn t work at a dining facility it could be one of two things Either your meal plan isn t loaded properly or there is physical damage to your mag stripe If there is physical damage to your mag stripe please visit the Campus Service Center If there is no visible damage to your card the meal plan may not be loaded properly If you have a commuter meal plan please visit the Campus Service Center If you have a housing meal plan please visit the Student Housing Residential Life office Building access If your card doesn t beep at a card reader outside of a door there is an issue with the card and please visit the Campus Service Center If you live in student housing and your card beeps but
