  • Study Rooms and Lockers | Oviatt Library
    SAME DAY use only Group study rooms are available and dedicated for use by CSUN students 2 or more for collaborative study and group projects Individual study rooms can only accommodate one CSUN student Reservations must be made by a student with an csun edu or my csun edu email address Reservations must be confirmed by email within 30 minutes of making the reservation By confirming the reservation students agree that the group study rooms will be used by a group of two or more students Students are highly encouraged to bring a print or digital copy of their confirmation as proof of reservation Students are allowed to reserve up to a maximum of 1 hours per day and 7 hours per week including weekends The Library reserves the right to ask single occupants with or without confirmed reservations to vacate a room immediately for a group of two or more CSUN students If a group doesn t show up within 10 minutes of the start of the reservation it has forfeited the reservation Any group can use it for the remainder of that half hour block Posters notes and other items may not be hung on walls or windows Windows are not to be covered or obstructed Lights must remain on at all times Maximum occupancy limits must be adhered to or group study room privileges may be lost The Library is not responsible for the security of personal items Any items left in rooms after the end of the reservation period may be removed by Library staff and placed in the Library s lost and found Failure to comply with established policies may result in suspension of group study room privileges and or other library privileges Graduate Study Rooms are NOT included in this reservation form Go to Guests Services Checkout Desk in lobby for access to these Faculty Locked research rooms are available to faculty who have long term projects that require easy access to Library materials These rooms are shared by up to four faculty members therefore may not be used to store personal items and circulating library material even if properly checked out Reference material and uncharged circulating material also may not be left in the research rooms as they are rendered unavailable and untraceable if they are locked up When a faculty study room is no longer needed the key should be returned to Circulation To obtain a key for these rooms an application must be filled out first with Circulation Graduate Students Locked study rooms located in the west wing lower level and on the fourth floor along the north wall are for use by Graduate students Inquire at the Circulation Desk for availability and check out Lockers The Oviatt Library has lockers available for currently enrolled CSUN students They are located at the Northwest corner of the 3rd and 4th floors Lockers must be checked out at the Circulation desk 1st floor lobby area and are available on a first come first

    they are admitted into one of the Roland Tseng College of Extended Learning distance degree granting programs Remote Access to Library Subscription Resources The Oviatt Library subscribes to a number of databases that are for the use of current CSUN students faculty and staff only The Library s proxy server provides a means for eligible users to access these databases from off campus When a user who is connected through a non CSUN Internet Service Provider ISP clicks on a link to a restricted resource they will be prompted to log in using their CSUN User ID and password Eligible users will then be connected through to the selected resource For more information visit http library csun edu Services FromHome Remote Access to Full Text Journal Articles A broad array of resources for distance students is available on our Databases by Subject web page These include over 14 000 journal titles many of which allow users to review print email and save complete journal articles Full text databases allow students to search for relevant articles and provide immediate electronic access to the item Interlibrary Loan ILL Document Delivery Services for Distance Education Students Requesting Loans and Copies Distance Education students may obtain loans and journal articles through Interlibrary Loan ILL You should Allow at least two weeks for Delivery Identify yourself as a Distance Education student Obtaining Material Available at the CSUN Oviatt Library You may request an item by using either WorldCat or the Library s Interlibrary Loan Service Loaned items will be mailed to your address UPS Second Day Air along with a prepaid envelope for you to return it You will have a loan period of 3 weeks Copies of articles will be delivered to you electronically You may identify CSUN held items by using either the

    and journal articles from any location They can also access eBooks All they need to know is their CSUN User ID and Password For more information on CSUN User ID and password see the Campus IT Username and Password page Students can receive reference assistance 24 7 through our Online Virtual Reference Chat service email or telephone These services are available through our Ask a Librarian page Librarians can also be contacted at the reference desk during Reference Desk Service Hours Students have free wireless access to the campus network and the Internet In addition there are 20 wireless enabled laptops available for two hour in Library checkout from the Collaboratory on the third floor east wing of the Library More than 170 computer workstations with a range of software programs are available in the Collaboratory for students to carry out research and to type papers Librarian Subject Specialists are available to assist students with in depth research in a specific field or discipline If there are articles books or other library materials students need but the Library does not own they can be requested online and obtained by the Library free of charge through our Interlibrary Loan Services The second third and fourth floors of the Library provide many quiet places for students to study These spaces include single student and quiet group study rooms that are available on a first come first serve basis Oviatt Library hours are extended during mid terms and finals Students may study in the Library from 7 45 a m until midnight on most days during these periods The university provides personal safety escorts to chaperone students from the Library to their cars from 5 p m until 11 p m Monday through Thursday Escorts will also wait with students until their ride
