    Library Materials Book Drops The PDF resources on this page require the Adobe Reader Circulated items from the main collection may be returned at the book chute located at the Guest Services Desk or at any of the 10 Library book drops located around campus Corner of Plummer and Etiwanda Ave West University Drive next to Charles Noski Auditorium and Juniper Hall North University Drive ADA Lot E 6 Faculty Staff Parking Lot along pathway to sidewalk Corner of Matador Walk and Vincennes St next to Jacaranda Hall along sidewalk Corner of Lindley Ave East University Drive Matador Walk across the street from Citrus Hall Science Building next to Botanic Garden near the steps leading to University Student Union On the walkway near Chaparral Hall Klotz Student Health Center and NCOD west of Faculty Staff Parking Lot G3 Between Santa Susana Hall and the Matador Bookstore on Sierra Walk Corner of Orange Grove Walk and Etiwanda Ave West University Drive across the street from Lots B1 B2 2 Bookdrops at Etiwanda Ave West University Drive Sierra Center Quad area across the street from Parking Structure B3 near the newspaper racks Corner of Etiwanda Ave and Vincennes St Jacaranda Walk next to Education Building and across from Parking Structure B5 In front of the Oviatt Library east portico area across from the book returns attached to the Oviatt These are open only during Library business hours There is a bookdrop bin that is available 24 7 Note Materials checked out from service points other than the main circulation desk such as Reserves Periodicals Microform Music Media and the Teacher Curriculum Center TCC must be returned directly to those units not deposited in the book chutes or drops This will prevent unnecessary late fees and avoid exposing these items to damage Services

  • Make a Gift to the Library | Oviatt Library
    the most needed of books electronic resources journals and other Library materials Gift Opportunities Donate a Book a Year A donation of 60 00 will buy one book A bookplate will be placed in the front of the book with your name or the name of someone you would like to remember or honor Adopt a Journal We need many donations for journals from all disciplines A minimum of 2 years subscription is required Donor names will be placed with the journal Adopt a Database There are many new databases which are really needed by our students If you support a database your name will appear each time a student accesses that database If a company donates a database the company name will appear when used by students The cost of databases vary Join the Friends of the Oviatt Library Membership in this support group is 60 00 a year 35 00 for Seniors over 60 and includes Library check out privileges The Friends are very active in supporting events such as book sales speakers and exhibitions Meet people with interests similar to your own Donate a Leaf Acorn or Stone on the Tree of Friends The Tree offers permanent recognition of supporters on the wall in the Library Exhibit Gallery A donation of 500 for a leaf 1 000 for an acorn and 2 000 for a stone will go toward the General Collections Endowment Many alums and parents of students have donated to the Tree as well as those honoring the memory of parents or friends Payroll Deduction CSUN employees may use payroll deduction to make an automatic gift to the Library This is an easy way to support your Library Endowment Opportunities Make a Gift to The Library Endowment This endowment has been established to support the Library s Collection and to assure that there will be funds in the future to buy books and materials The Library spends only the interest so your gift will always be a part of the endowment Start Your Own Endowment This is a way to build your own gift over the years with the funds going toward a Library need that you choose A 25 000 gift will start your Endowment and may be paid over 5 years The principal is never touched only the interest is spent You may continue to contribute through the years building your endowment to a higher level and knowing your original gifts will be there in perpetuity Endow a Subject Collection Any of our subject collections are available for naming with a gift of 25 000 in an endowment This gift may be paid over a 5 year period The collection will then carry your name such as the Smith Shakespeare Collection or the Jones Accounting Collection and a plaque will be placed in the stacks with your name Interest from your endowment will purchase new books in your collection and each of the books will have a specially designed bookplate with your name

  • History of the Building | Oviatt Library
    1991 The second phase of the Delmar T Oviatt Library is completed by adding the east and west wings to the Library The architect is Leo A Daly The contractor is Kiewit Construction The budget is 18 4 million The construction adds 96 816 square feet The Oviatt is now 234 712 square feet The South Library is renovated for other campus services January 17 1994 A 6 8 earthquake strikes the Northridge area and badly damages the Oviatt Library The Library is closed indefinitely February 1994 Partial library services begin in trailers parked next to the Oviatt Spring 1994 The North Library Annex a converted 16 000 square foot barn cost 1 710 000 on Devonshire Street on the North Campus opens and now houses Technical Services some public services and study room space The Lindley Avenue Library Annex a 10 000 square foot plastic dome cost 765 000 opened to house Fine Arts Instructional Materials and Microform Additionally a 5 000 square foot study hall dome is opened Fall 1994 After 68 days of construction the Oviatt core is restored for service The wings remain closed The core is a concrete structure which withstood the earthquake The wings are a steel frame structure unable to resist the force of the quake The cost of the core is 11 million a substantial amount is in asbestos abatement The general contractor is PepperWest The project management company is Law Crandall Summer 1997 The wings cannot be fully restored and have to be partially torn down Demolition occurs over the summer The demolition company is Cleveland Wrecking Company November 1997 Technical Services Special Collections move out of the North Library to make way for the development of North Campus They move to trailers in Parking Lot C Prairie Street PS July

    WASC Information Ask a Librarian Live Chat 24 7 Text a Librarian Reference Desk Subject Specialists About Delmar T Oviatt As its first executive officer Dr Oviatt planned this campus s establishment as a branch of Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences He was an educator who was vitally concerned with young people innovative experimental and forward looking and a man of uncommon good sense and of a rare humane bearing and feeling He was a wise man who proved his balance and judgement time and again through his skill and intellect He was a friendly man who gave of himself repeatedly to his colleagues and to his community who was always ready to listen to counsel and encourage the many who sought his advice and help He was a courageous man who stood for educational values and standards as well as for meaningful change and adaptation even when these values standards and change were unpopular and under attack Dr Oviatt s dedication and efforts are mirrored in this University which he did so much to create About the Library About the Library Mission Vision and Values Visitor Information Personnel and Departments Strategic Planning Library History and
