    with the following Society at large and higher education in particular are in the midst of revolutionary changes in information flow and approaches to learning In response the Oviatt Library has embarked on a number of initiatives that will transform the face of our facility and our services read more Oviatt Spotlight Student Employees 2014 We have long suspected that the Oviatt s dynamic mix of student employees represent the very best and brightest that CSUN has to offer and as it just so happens our students agree The Oviatt employs approximately 150 CSUN students at any given time This large and essential component of the Library s workforce consists of a remarkable cross section of the university s highly diverse student population Library student employees come from across the street and from around the world read more Thanks Recognition Vern Bullough It was a lucky day for our library when Vern Bullough a young history professor from Utah joined the faculty of what was then San Fernando Valley State College in 1959 Vern Bullough and his wife Bonnie met in high school in Salt Lake City Utah and were married barely out of their teens The Bulloughs were together for nearly 50 years and had four children read more We Would Like You to Meet Tony Ivankovic When the Oviatt Library and the National Center on Deafness NCOD set out to find someone who could help to better serve the needs of CSUN students who use the NCOD Library all signs clearly pointed to Anthony Ivankovic The newly created NCOD Library Coordinator position will supervise the NCOD Library in Chisolm Hall and work part of the time in Guest Services at the Oviatt Anthony Ivankovic officially started work as the NCOD Library Coordinator in the Oviatt Library on May

    of art have spanned the political spectrum defined generations and shaped our uniquely American identity read more Oviatt Spotlight Learning Resource Center We are excited and very proud to welcome the Learning Resource Center to its beautifully remodeled new home in the east wing on the Library s third floor After a very ambitious summer long renovation that resulted in a wall to wall transformation of the third floor s east wing the Learning Resource Center LRC is happily settling into its new digs in the Oviatt Library read more Thanks and Recognition Marianne Afifi Associate Dean of the Oviatt Library Marianne Afifi is required to wear a variety of hats Now after overseeing months of construction in the new Learning Commons a hardhat is included On the long list of responsibilities that fall under the purview of the Oviatt Library s Associate Dean Marianne Afifi are things like day to day operations emergency planning departmental oversight strategic planning and development read more We Would Like You to Meet Sarah Sayeed Originally from Orange County Sarah began to work at the Oviatt Library in November 2012 after completing her Bachelor of Architecture at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo While pursuing her degree Sarah worked as a Learning Commons Assistant in Cal Poly s Robert E Kennedy Library as well as a Computer Lab Assistant and in the Architecture Department Her experiences in the library eventually helped Sarah to select library design as the basis for her senior thesis project read more Message from the Dean Expanded Views and a Focused Vision When entering the newly renovated Library lobby the visual changes are nothing short of stunning When standing just inside the front doors on the south facing structure patrons now encounter unobstructed sightlines to the long wall of
