    student to the predominant political trends and concepts presently entertained and harbored in the Black Community A necessary adjunct to the dialogue is the racist theme in American Society since on balance this is the matrix out of which the political alternatives and concepts grew 3 units ETHN 141 Politics of the African Diaspora Examines the social political cultural and economic factors which have been important to the African diaspora Examines how African people have responded to those factors both in terms of formal political thought and in terms of political movements and political institutions Examines thought and practice comparability to Africa U S Caribbean Central and South America Cross listed as Government 141 only one may be counted for credit 3 units ETHN 171 African Religions and Philosophies A study of the African s concept of God with particular emphasis on His works His relationship to His creations and His worship Also covers the concepts of evil ethics justice and various metaphysical ideas 3 units ETHN 170 Pan African Studies Investigation into the subjective aspects of Pan African Studies Black Studies Covers such topical areas as the struggle by Black Americans for education the genesis of the Black Studies movement Black culture institutional change etc The very nature of the course permits the coverage of a broad range of subject matter Students are encouraged to take specific courses offered by the Pan African Studies program for more extensive investigation 3 units ETHN 172 Black Women in America Examines the historical and social forces that shape the lives of Black women This course will examine the Black woman s role in the family community work force and society in general 3units ETHN 173 The Black Family in the United States Using the interdisciplinary approach several institutional factors affecting the structure

    students The CWC mission of Leadership Scholarship and Service is enduring successful and a model that has primarily informed the recent 1 8 million grant for Asian Americans acquired by Timothy Fong of Ethnic Studies Department Center for Africa Peace and Conflict Resolution CAPCR Every year Pan African Studies collaborates with the Center for Africa Peace and Conflcit Resolution to host an annual conference that attracts national and international participants and audiences The Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution CAPCR was established to provide conflict resolution and reconciliation services for agencies governments organizations businesses communities and groups through training education research and intervention CAPCR s goal is to develop and provide training on mediation negotiation arbitration and other conflict resolution services for institutions community agencies governments and related professional groups in US Africa Congress of African Peoples CAP Pan African Studies has strong connections with both the mission and the founder of Congress of African Peoples Dr David Covin Students of Pan African Studies and scholars of Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program participate in the annual convening of CAP The Congress of African Peoples as implemented in Sacramento arose out of the belief that it was important to connect the findings of Black scholars with our practice in the community If for example scholars had discovered that the wheel had been invented it was a total waste to start at zero and try to invent it It is important to use what we already know to pick up the wheel put it on what we want to move and carry on In Black politics Black scholars had conclusively confirmed that 1 Black people all over the world crave unity they want to come together as a united people 2 They have tried that many times in many places and
