    Data Archive Conference and Programs Envisioning California Conference Civic Education and Leadership Opportunities LSMI Judicial Administration Graduate Certificate Panetta Institute Congressional Internship Sacramento Semester selected California Studies The origins of the Center for California Studies and indeed its name stem from the conviction that a real understanding of California s government politics and public policies is not possible without an awareness of the state s non political facets Unlike many conventional university based research and public policy institutes the Center has always maintained an interdisciplinary foundation for its activities and shunned an overriding approach that focuses on a single discipline or policy concern Center activities involve and are enriched by historians and political scientists poets and artists policy makers and policy critics economists and biologists In so doing the Center hopes to increase appreciation for the richness of California The Center s goals are To assist California s public officials and policymakers in addressing the state s challenges through policy research and productive dialogue To foster in California s future leaders a dedication to public service and a commitment to the values of representative democracy equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for an effective and ethical public career

    2011 12 Assembly Fellow Capital Fellows Programs Assembly Fellowship Program The California State Assembly Fellowship Program founded in 1957 is one of the nation s oldest and most prestigious legislative fellowship programs In 1987 the program was renamed the Jesse Marvin Unruh Assembly Fellowship Program to honor California s former Assembly Speaker and State Treasurer This unique program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to directly participate in the legislative process Each year 18 individuals are selected to participate in the program The 11 month fellowship provides an introduction to public policy formation and adoption in the California Legislature through full time work as a professional legislative staff member The Assembly Fellowship Program is co sponsored by the California State Assembly and California State University Sacramento through the Center for California Studies Assembly Fellows receive a monthly stipend of 2 627 as well as medical dental and vision benefits The 2016 17 fellowship application period is closed 2016 2017 Assembly Fellowship Brochure An indepth view of the Assembly Fellowship Program Assembly Fellows 2011 12 Graduate Students Assembly fellows receive fully paid enrollment at California State University Sacramento Sacramento State and earn graduate units for seminars taught by faculty from the Sacramento State Government Department Katja Wiesemann Assembly fellow 2011 12 Office Placement Fellows are placed in the Capitol offices of Assembly Members and perform a variety of tasks in different areas Some of these tasks may include drafting and staffing legislation tracking legislation writing committee analyses responding to constituent letters writing speeches meeting with constituents or researching policy issues Assembly Fellows 2010 11 Qualifications Applicants must be 20 years of age by the beginning of the fellowship and applicants must have completed their undergraduate degree by September of the fellowship year Applicants must be prepared for

    State University Sacramento Sacramento State and in partnership with the Judicial Council of California All persons with a four year college degree including recent graduates and mid career applicants are eligible to apply Successful applicants demonstrate a commitment to public service and an interest in the administration of justice in the California court system Ten fellows are accepted into the ten month program which begins in September of each year As employees of California State University fellows earn a monthly stipend of 2 627 and receive health dental and vision benefits The 2016 17 fellowship application period is closed Inside the Judicial Administration Fellowship Program 2016 2017 Judicial Administration Fellowship Brochure Judicial Fellows 2009 10 Graduate Students Fellows are enrolled as graduate students in Public Policy and Administration at Sacramento State and attend regularly scheduled academic seminars During the course of the fellowship fellows earn graduate units for the successful completion of all academic requirements Judicial Fellows 2011 12 Office Placement Full time professional staff placements include California trial and the Judicial Council A key component to the program is the strength of the mentorship opportunities that exist for fellows in each of the placements Judicial Fellows 2008 09 Qualifications Applicants must be 20 years of age and must have completed their undergraduate degree by September of the fellowship year Applicants must be prepared for full time employment Monday through Friday 8 00a m 5 00p m Maria Abesa Judicial fellow 2010 11 Application Requirements 2016 17 Fellowship Application Personal Statement Program Statement Three original current letters of recommendation It is strongly suggested that at least one of the recommendations be provided by a faculty member familiar with your work and one of the recommendations be provided by a supervisor employer Transcripts from each college and university attended Embert Madison
