    100 Online Class Click here for syllabus FREN 1B sect 3 Beginning French Tu Th 5 30 7 20 pm Click here for syllabus Forl 385 B World Languages Click here for syllabus Kevin Elstob teaches French He is an avid traveler who puts biking and hiking in California and Provence at the top of his activities list His most recent journey was to the Alpes Maritimes in the south of France Elstob has also spent a lot of time in Canada from coast to coast If you would like to see more see Elstob s Facebook and blog pages Since working on the theatre of French playwright Michel Vinaver for his PhD Elstob has continued to examine ways in which the visual arts particularly theatre and film represent French and Francophone culture He has led a number of post film discussions and question and answers sessions at the Crest movie theater He has a profound interest in multilingualism and how it changes one s appreciation of life One of the projects he is working on presently is the multi dimensional and multilingual theatrical work of Robert Lepage Elstob has also collaborated on a number of translations for organizations in Northern California Recently he was lead translator of an Avian Flu workshop for UC Davis Wildlife Center s programs in Djibouti and West Africa Elstob is board president of the Sacramento French Film Festival and former president and founding member of the Alliance Française de Sacramento He is vice president of the Sacramento French Club where he plays Pétanque He is also a qualified Pétanque umpire He likes to write fiction and poetry when he has time but he mostly is successful with film and theater criticism Elstob loves to laugh he adores palindromes word plays and a good joke

    for 13 years in that capacity Until 1966 due to limited facility space exercise physiology was a lecture class with some field related activities However he found an unused storage closet and placed a small Quinton treadmill in the space The chair of the Recreation Department offered him a large recreation room to serve as a laboratory Accepting the offer he redesigned the facility to include several independent laboratories including a hydrostatic weighing body composition lab pulmonary lab cycle ergometer lab two treadmill labs and a motor learning lab Additionally two faculty offices and a lecture room were included in the space He then become the Director of the new facility named the Human Performance Laboratory Some 25 years later funding become available for a new five story building to house the School of Health and Human Services of which a large portion of second floor was devoted to a new Human Performance Laboratory With the assistance of Dr Fred Baldini an exercise physiologist and colleague a state of the art exercise physiology laboratory was designed Dr Faria s post doctoral work includes research with Dr Bruno Balke at the University of Wisconsin in Madison research at the August Krog Institute with Dr Bengt Saltin in Copenhagen Denmark and study in the Advancement of Science Program Statistics and Experimental Design in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University Recognized for his research publications and service in 1971 he was awarded a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine He is one of few CSUS faculty who have been honored by receiving the CSUS Scholar of the Year award Teacher of the Year award and the CSUS Distinguished Faculty Award When Dr Faria retired in 1999 following 40 years at CSUS the Human Performance Laboratory was renamed the Irvin
