  • Impaction
beginning in Fall 2011 There are subtle yet important differences between major and campus impaction Major impaction means that the number of applications from fully eligible students to a designated major during the initial filing period far exceeds the number of spaces available in that major However students can still be admitted in an alternate major or they may eventually be admitted to the oversubscribed major if they meet the supplementary admission criteria Campus impaction otherwise known as campus wide impaction means that a campus has exhausted existing enrollment capacity in terms of the instructional resources and physical capacity of the campus Because the campus receives more eligible applicants during the initial admission application filing period than can be accommodated the campus must therefore restrict enrollment to the campus Fall 2016 Campus wide Impaction Criteria TBD Upper Division Transfer restricted capacity for applicants from outside of our local admission area Consideration for admission to any impacted major or campus is contingent on first meeting the regular admission requirements for the CSU Supplementary admission criteria are used to screen all applicants for admission to impacted majors including those students currently enrolled at the campus in other majors and seeking access to the impacted major Transfer students have the same priority as continuing students in being admitted to an impacted major They must also meet the same supplemental admission criteria as continuing students For a small percentage of prospective freshmen or new transfers their eligibility may be weighed alongside other criteria such as first generation college status socioeconomic factors indication of overcoming educational hardship skills or talents that align with or contribute to university programs or enrich the educational experience of the campus community Sacramento State Designated Impacted Programs Biological Sciences beginning 2015 16 All undergraduate programs in Biological Sciences have been officially designated as impacted programs on the Sacramento State campus Check with the Department of Biological Sciences to confirm current criteria at 916 278 6535 or www csus edu bios Business Administration All undergraduate programs in Business Administration have been officially designated as impacted programs on the Sacramento State campus Check with the Undergraduate Business Advising Center to confirm current criteria at 916 278 BIZZ 2499 or www csus edu cba ubac Impaction html Criminal Justice All programs in Criminal Justice have been officially designated as impacted programs on the Sacramento State campus Check with the Department of Criminal Justice to confirm current criteria at 916 278 6487 or http www csus edu HHS CJ Programs impaction 20faq html Design The Graphic Design and Photography programs have been officially designated as impacted programs on the Sacramento State campus Check with the Department of Design 916 278 3962 to confirm current criteria or http www al csus edu design as of 2015 16 Interior Design is no longer impacted Health Science All undergraduate programs in Health Science have been officially designated as impacted programs on the Sacramento State campus Check with the Department of Health Science to confirm current criteria at
