  • Vehicle Accident Reporting Procedures | California State University Stanislaus
    Std 270 and you both sign it If the accident did happen on a Turlock campus road a Public Safety Officer will investigate the scene complete the Std 270 pdf and you will both sign it Public Safety will obtain any additional accident reports filed by local police or the California Highway Patrol Public Safety will send the Std 270 and other accident reports if applicable to the University Risk Manager who will contact ORIM See Resources below the California State Office of Risk and Insurance Manager in Sacramento ORIM ORIM will open a claim and investigate to determine fault If the University driver is at fault ORIM will handle the claim and settle payment If the University driver is not at fault ORIM will return the claim to the University Risk Manager for settlement If you are contacted by the other driver their insurance company or their attorney give the caller no written or recorded statements and refer them to the ORIM claims adjuster or the University Risk Manager If the accident has attracted media attention refer them to University Communications Public Information Officer You are the University driver s immediate supervisor Review the Vehicle Accident Report Std 270 to attest to the fact that the employee was on official University business Conduct a prompt and through investigation of the vehicle accident and initiate any verbal or written correction with the employee driver Complete the Supervisor s Review of Motor Vehicle Accident Std 274 pdf and forward it to the University Risk Manager The purpose of the Std 274 form is to determine whether the accident was avoidable and to aid in the prevention of future vehicle accidents Whoever you are if contacted by the claimant Make no promises or commitments to the claimants that their claim will be

    using ABS brakes and proper steering wheel hand position Adverse Driving Conditions and the techniques for driving safely in a multitude of conditions Emergency Response and the actions that are appropriate for emergency situations Validation period is for four years Once registration is complete you will receive an e mail with the link and instructions for certification Prerequisite Must hold a valid Driver License Course Registration Full Name Student ID if applicable Employment Status Management Staff Faculty Student Other Community Member Department Email Address Driver License Phone Number Approved Attendance Yes No Note Employee if this course is during your regularly scheduled work day please confirm your supervisor has approved your attendance DMV Record Check Yes I Accept Your driver s license record will be checked with the Department of Motor Vehicles If your driver s license is VALID and you have a good driving record the Defensive Driver Registration will be approved If it is not approved you will be notified Additionally all drivers for the University are placed on the Department of Motor Vehicles Pull Program which provides the University with driving records information every six months whenever a citation is issued or when the driver is involved in a recordable vehicle accident Certificate of Completion Agreement Yes I Accept I understand that I will complete the Defensive Driver course in its entirety I understand that I will be responsible for obtaining a certificate of completion and submitting it to Safety and Risk Management I also understand that I will check my computer to be sure it meets system requirements prior to starting the course You will not be given credit for the course until a certificate of completion has been submitted SRM will not be responsible for computer systems that fail lack of printing capability or situations
