    30269 Acting Director Dr Emily Marsh director ddess am dodea edu phone 678 364 8000 Deputy Director of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment Dr Fran Austin fran austin am dodea edu phone 678 364 8012 Mission Vision Community Strategic Plan Accreditation Enrollment Data Testing Data Budget Books Annual Reports The Information Technology IT Division provides value added IT leadership and service to our schools A DDESS goal is to stay in the forefront of technology use in our schools and we are pursuing every opportunity to provide the best in educational opportunities for students We lead this effort by providing support to DDESS schools in the areas of Local Area Networks LAN Wide Area Networks WAN Email connectivity Technology training and support Local Area Networks LAN DDESS classrooms are equipped with computers and peripheral equipment and provide student access to a variety of educational programs and the Internet Using Pentium level computers as a minimum standard DDESS schools average one computer per every two students Local area networks facilitate connectivity for DDESS schools with state of the art equipment Internet filtering software is utilized throughout the DDESS schools to filter access to the Internet these filters in conjunction with Internet safety instruction in our classrooms help to ensure appropriate use of the Internet by our students Wide Area Networks WAN High speed connectivity is provided to each DDESS school building opening the door for expanded use of technology in our schools enhancing the educational opportunities for our students The DDESS organization has completed a migration to Microsoft Active Directory an enterprise network operating system This change will enable DDESS to move toward a consistent standard for educational hardware and software across the organization eMail Connectivity We maintain Microsoft Exchange Servers at each DDESS district to accommodate the use of electronic mail

    officials to verify continued immunization compliance Should the immunization documentation reveal missing immunization data the necessary immunizations must be obtained and proof of immunization compliance presented to school officials within thirty 30 days of initial enrollment for continued enrollment in DoDEA For immunizations that require a series of vaccinations to complete immunity the next in the series is due no later than NLT 10 days after the due date as determined by the ACIP series spacing requirements Failure to present proof of immunization compliance may result in the disenrollment of the child until proof of immunization compliance is presented to school officials All DoDEA schools comply with the immunization compliance program Immunization compliance is a condition of attendance in the DoDEA system As of July 2010 DoDEA recognized the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children The compact language reads that Compacting states shall give thirty 30 calendar days from the date of enrollment for required immunizations For a series of immunizations initial immunizations must be obtained within thirty 30 calendar days Health Information Annual Well Child Physical Parents guardians or sponsors of children enrolling in a Department of Defense Dependent School DoDEA are encouraged to provide their child with an annual well child physical by their primary health care provider or by the medical treatment facility MTF responsible for primary care at their current military installation An annual physical examination focuses on specific assessments that are appropriate for the child s or adolescent s age developmental phase and needs It provides opportunities to identify silent or subtle illnesses or conditions and provides time for the health care professional to educate children and their parents about the body and its growth and development First Aid and Emergency Care School principals establish first aid and emergency care plans and the medical authority on each installation review these procedures each year School personnel cannot give or recommend medicines except as provided in DSM 2942 0 Medicines at School Of course it s best that students not take medicine during school hours However when it is necessary for a student to take medication at school he or she must leave the medication with the school nurse for safekeeping The medicine must be in a pharmacy labeled container with the student s name the name of the medication and the scheduled dose or doses Each student must also bring a parent s written permission to take the medication and written orders from the physician If the school nurse is not present the student must present the medication to the school principal acting principal or health aide for safekeeping In extremely rare situations students are allowed to keep their medicine with them while in school or at school related activities The student s prescribing physician must provide a written statement that the student has to keep the medication at all times also a parent must provide written permission for the medication to stay with the student These rare circumstances are usually for field trips

    retained for the file Child s passport copy will not be retained for the file Dependent Status Sponsor is listed as biological parent on child s birth certificate Child is listed on military sponsor s orders Sponsor is named on child s military identification card ID Appropriate military service form documenting that the Service recognizes the child as a dependent of this member Approved DEERS registration form If the sponsor is a step parent and one of the above cannot be provided the following is required Child s birth certificate documenting sponsor s spouse is biological parent Custody documents indicating spouse has full custody of child Marriage certificate of sponsor and child s biological parent If neither the sponsor nor spouse are the biological parents of the child court ordered custody or guardianship documents are required power of attorney or notarized agreements between biological parents and sponsor are NOT accepted Note If court order names only the spouse as guardian or custodian of the child the sponsor will be required to complete and sign an in loco parentis affidavit available from the school registrar Active Duty Status of Military Sponsor Current orders less than 3 years old at most locations Sponsor s active duty identification card copy of picture side will be retained in the file Letter from sponsor s command certifying active duty status Current deployment orders Employment Status of Civilian Sponsor Current Standard Form SF 50 Letter from Servicing personnel officer verifying full time employment Verification of Housing Housing assignment letter voucher or RCI lease agreement each installation may have specific requirements please check with registrar Letter from housing office that housing will be available and offered within 90 school days Enrollment in DDESS schools in the territories possessions or commonwealths New students must provide verification of the following Date of Birth Dependent Status Active Duty Status of Military Sponsor or Employment Status of Civilian Sponsor On Base Housing Assignment if used as basis for eligibility Non DoD Agency Certification for non DoD civilians only Returning students must provide verification of the following each school year Active Duty Status of Military Sponsor or Employment Status of Civilian Sponsor On Base Housing Assignment if used for eligibility purposes Employment Status and Certification of Non DoD Civilian Sponsors and Dependents The following documents may be used to verify information Date of Birth Certified copy of birth certificate copy will be retained for the file Child s passport copy will not be retained for the file Dependent Status Sponsor is listed as biological parent on child s birth certificate Child is listed on military sponsor s orders Sponsor is named on child s military ID Appropriate military service form documenting that the Service recognizes the child as a dependent of this member Approved DEERS registration form If the sponsor is a step parent and one of the above cannot be provided the following is required Child s birth certificate documenting sponsor s spouse is biological parent Custody documents indicating spouse has
