    and Workshops Duke Events Calendar Contact Fulltext search Home Resources Funding Opportunities The William T Grant Scholars Program The William T Grant Scholars Program Submitted by drupaladmin on May 30 2015 12 46am The William T Grant Scholars Program is for early career researchers in the social behavioral and health sciences We encourage Scholars to tackle important questions that will advance theory policy and practice for youth Applicants identify new methods disciplines or content they want to learn and propose five year research plans that foster their growth in those areas We recognize that early career researchers are rarely given incentives or support to take such risks so this award includes a mentoring component Potential Scholars should have a promising track record of conducting high quality research but want to pursue a significant shift in their trajectories as researchers Areas of Interest We are focused on youth ages 5 to 25 in the United States We fund research that increases our understanding of programs policies and practices that reduce inequality in youth outcomes and the use of research evidence in policy and practice We seek research that builds stronger theory and empirical evidence in these two areas We intend for

    Duke Events Calendar Contact Fulltext search Home Resources Funding Opportunities Russell Sage Foundation Program on the Future of Work Russell Sage Foundation Program on the Future of Work Submitted by drupaladmin on May 30 2015 12 46am One of the oldest foundations in the United States the Russell Sage Foundation was established by Margaret Olivia Sage in 1907 for the improvement of social and living conditions in the United States In pursuit of that mission the foundation now dedicates itself to strengthening the methods data knowledge and theoretical core of the social sciences as a means of diagnosing social problems and improving social policies The Foundation is interested in research that examines the causes and consequences of the declining economic fortunes and stagnant wages of many U S workers and their effects on workers and their families We encourage methodological variety but all proposals should have well developed conceptual frameworks and research designs Analytical models should be specified and research questions and hypotheses where applicable should be clearly stated Awards are available for research assistance data acquisition data analysis and investigator time for conducting research and writing up results All applications should limit budget requests for no more than a

    RAND Postdoctoral Training Program in the Study of Aging RAND Postdoctoral Training Program in the Study of Aging Submitted by drupaladmin on May 30 2015 12 46am The RAND Postdoctoral Training Program in the Study of Aging enables outstanding junior scholars in demographic and aging research to sharpen their analytic skills learn to communicate research results effectively and advance their research agenda Housed within RAND Labor and Population the program blends formal and informal training and extensive collaboration with distinguished researchers in a variety of disciplines Fellowships are for one year renewable for a second Each fellow receives an annual stipend travel stipend and health insurance Fellows must be U S Citizens or permanent residents and must have completed a Ph D or its equivalent in a relevant discipline before they begin the program The RAND Fellows program is open to new scholars in the field of demographic and aging research as well as individuals who already have research experience on these topics For example in some cases fellows are on leave from an academic position so they can engage in research and writing full time and extend their research agenda and funding base The Program gives Fellows a great

    2015 9 02am The William T Grant Foundation s Distinguished Fellows Program is designed to increase the supply of demand for and use of high quality research in the service of improved youth outcomes To accomplish its goals the program gives influential mid career researchers the opportunity to immerse themselves in practice or policy settings and gives influential practitioners and policy makers the opportunity to work in research settings To that end the program encourages mid career researchers to submit proposals that are designed to deepen their understanding of policy processes and practice settings The program also invites policy makers and practitioners to propose projects that will enhance their capacities to recognize and use high quality research Proposed fellowships must fit the Grant Foundation s research interests The foundation currently supports research to understand and improve the everyday settings of youth in the United States Specifically the foundation funds studies that enhance the understanding of how youth settings work how they affect youth development and how they can be improved and when how and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practice that affect youth and how its use can be improved To be eligible applicants must be influential mid career practitioners policy makers or researchers and propose one or two tax exempt private and governmental organizations that are willing to house and mentor the fellow For the purposes of this program a mid career professional is defined as having eight to twenty years of cumulative experience in his her current role as a researcher policy maker or practitioner The program generally selects between one and four fellows annually Each will receive up to 175 000 including direct and indirect costs for the total duration of the fellowship Fellowships may range from six months to two years
