    Asked Questions Where is the Writing Studio located The Writing Studio is located on the first floor of Johnson Hall in room 143 What should I expect at my tutoring session Writing studio tutors are peer tutors comprised of upperclassmen and graduate tutors In either case tutors will behave professionally and have been trained to provide you with feedback on your draft Tutors will not write the draft for you instead they address your concerns and help you find the information you need What should I bring to my tutoring session Students should bring their writing prompt or assignment sheet a copy of their draft as well as something to write with Bring the writing prompt is essential because it allows tutors to have a better understanding of what the assignment is about How long will the session last Typically sessions last for 30 minutes If after 30 minutes the tutor and the student have not finished discussing the entire draft the student may make another appointment Limiting sessions to 30 minutes ensures that tutors can stay on schedule and help the maximum number of students How will the tutor interact with me The tutors are there to help you strengthen your writing Their job is not to write the paper for you Tutors will evaluate your work holistically therefore you should not expect them to concentrate on surface level errors such as grammar and punctuation At the beginning of the session let your tutor know if there are specific areas of the draft that you wish to receive feedback on Why should I go to the writing center Revision and peer editing are essential to developing a successful draft The writing studio provides students with a safe environment to receive feedback on a draft ask questions and correct major

    your academic and personal growth Our students come from different places and backgrounds but together they create a diverse close knit community that seeks to create a better world Athletics Alumni Search Keyword Search Search Writing Studio Programs and Services FAQ Policies QEP Writing Studio Handbook Rate the Writing Studio Staff and Faculty Strategies for Successful Students Student Resources Tutor Handbook Policies GE 102 and GE 103 are required to attend a minimum of two tutoring sessions during the semester or their final average will be dropped by one letter grade Students can also receive asynchronous tutoring via e mail QEPWS ecsu edu This will count as a required visit GE 102 and GE 103 students can find more information about this on the QEP Writing Studio tab of their GE 102 103 Blackboard course shell Students can schedule a maximum of two appointments per week Late and No Show Policy If a student is more than 10 minutes late his or her session will be given to a walk in If a student arrives after the ten minute window he or she will need to reschedule the appointment Sessions are scheduled to last 30 minutes If students would like additional help with an assignment they can schedule another appointment for later in the week After a tutoring session takes place an e mail will be sent to the student s instructor This report not only serves as proof that the student attended the session but will also briefly describe what occurred during the session No food or beverages are allowed in the QEP Writing Studio or computer lab Be respectful of all Writing Studio tutors and staff Tutors and staff are there to help students improve your writing Disciplinary or behavioral problems can result in a student being permanently

    provides a range of experiences that are invaluable to your academic and personal growth Our students come from different places and backgrounds but together they create a diverse close knit community that seeks to create a better world Athletics Alumni Search Keyword Search Search Radio TV Service About W18BB TV About WRVS Donate Forms Documents HBCU Nation Radio Show Listen Live Marketing Photo Gallery Staff SuccessFest Support Radio Schedule Where Are They Now WRVS Air Force Mass Media Club WRVS Financials About WRVS Serving our area with NPR news sports gospel jazz and R B for 29 years 89 9 WRVS is a 41 000 watt powerhouse We are a listener supported public radio service of Elizabeth City State University WRVS became the first radio station in Elizabeth City and one of the first radio stations in Northeast North Carolina to broadcast using HD Radio TM technology WRVS single largest and most important source of funding is you the listener Your gracious donations help to bring you all of the programs you enjoy on WRVS FM and WRVS HD1 Those programs include NPR shows such as Morning Edition and Marian McPartland s Piano Jazz as well as other nationally syndicated programs like The Tavis Smiley Show on PRI But WRVS does not stop there We keep our listeners informed with original programming such as The Viking Sports Network The HBCU Nation Radio Show and NENC Sports Radio Show Listener support is the key to keeping your favorite programs on the air History WRVS was the brainchild of former Chancellor Dr Jimmy Jenkins who hired David C Linton to help the University realize his dream Linton was brought in as Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Media Development and helped work with the FCC engineers and others to get the station on the air Linton who served as the station s first general manager and program director also coined the original slogan Wonderful Radio Viking Style The original staff consisted of Paula Sutton Public Affairs Director On Air Personality Andre Smith News Sports Director Dorothy Keith Traffic Director Gospel Announcer and a group of talented students The original student staff consisted of Ed Oakley On Air Personality Public affairs Gary Shearod On Air Personality Student Music Director Aerek Stephens Sports On Air Personality The Almost Famous Darius Morris On Air Personality Sports Stephanie Allen News Public Affairs Pamela Brown News Public Affairs and Alvera Gunn News Public Affairs On March 18 1986 Chancellor Jenkin s birthday at 6pm Jenkins and Linton flipped the switch turning on the transmitter and firing up WRVS at 10kW as station 90 7 FM It was David Linton and Paula Sutton who shared the on air debut honors by playing the 1979 hit song Ain t No Stopping Us Now by McFadden and Whitehead There were also several on air interviews including the City Mayor Chairman of the ECSU Board of Trustees Chancellor Jimmy Jenkins and other dignitaries In 1990 the station received several upgrades including
