    day Students are expected to stay in the assigned agencies for the entire academic year The Field Education component of the Social Work Curriculum includes directed practice experiences under the supervision of an approved Agency Supervisor and the Director of Field Education The Seminar Class is designed for students to integrate classroom learning and field education experiences Students are required to demonstrate beginning knowledge values and skills of generalist social work practice with individuals families groups organization and communities with emphasis on the rural perspective Admissions Criteria Social Work students are required to meet the following admissions and placement criteria before they are selected for field agency placements The admission process for Field Education begins during the spring semester of the students junior year The Admission Criteria for Field Education are as follows Complete an Application for Field Education and Seminar and return it to the Director of Field Education by the established deadline Provide an Unofficial Transcript from the ECSU Registrar s Office Provide a Certified Copy of the General Studies Education Requirement Form that documents the completion of Liberal Arts and General Education Courses Maintain a grade of C or higher in all pre professional and professional courses Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2 50 Submit a current Resume to be maintained in the Field Education Office Attend three Pre Field Orientation Meetings The Field Education Placement Process Students that are selected for Field Education placements are required to submit their applications during the semester prior to their senior year The social work curriculum is designed for social work students to complete their Field Education and Seminar experience during their senior year An application for Field Education must be completed and submitted to the Director of Field Education Applications are provided to students by electronic mail Students may be interested in working in specific agencies however it is important to remember that agency placement decisions are based on the individual s experience and learning needs Students may recommend an agency placement to the Director of Field Education Student will be notified of an agency that will be appropriate in meeting their learning needs and interests Some of the agencies may have additional requirements for student to be approved for placement Some agencies may also require a criminal background check which is pertinent when working with children or the criminal justice system Students are required to be honest about their background on their Field Education Applications and also during Agency Interviews False information will result in dismissal from the agency and Field Education and Seminar I and II In addition a physical examination or other medical tests may also be required by field education placements Pre Field Orientation Meetings The Field Education and Seminar require students to attend three scheduled field orientation meetings before they enter their placements during the fall semester of their senior year The purpose of the pre field orientation meetings are to provide information about Field Education and agency placements to discuss expectations

    to your academic and personal growth Our students come from different places and backgrounds but together they create a diverse close knit community that seeks to create a better world Athletics Alumni Search Keyword Search Search aviation Background Programs Faculty Staff Links Programs of Study The Four Program Options under Aviation Science All aviation student majors at Elizabeth City State University are enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Science degree program In addition to the general education requirements each aviation student must complete a core set of aviation courses as well as the required courses in their selected area of specialization Below is a description of the four Aviation Science specializations Flight Education Professional Pilot Forecasts indicate that airline passenger growth will continue for a significant number of years into the future New airlines and partnerships are commonplace and a promising new segment of the industry very light jets is well underway Also large numbers of baby boomer flight personnel are expected to leave the aviation industry as they begin their retirements and indications are that the demand for pilots will continue ECSU stands ready to be a major participant in educating pilots who will be flight officers and leaders in the aviation industry This high visibility program trains and educates students to become flight instructors and professional pilots for the nation s airlines corporate aviation and military services Air Traffic Control The FAA has indicated that it expects to hire some 17 000 air traffic controllers over the next ten years ECSU expects to be a partner with the FAA in educating and preparing students for the responsible positions of air traffic controllers for the National Airspace System ATC simulation lab is well equipped The ATC program minor started course offering in fall 2009 Aviation Management Every
