  • satisfactory academic progress
    on financial aid warning At the end of the warning period if the required minimum cumulative GPA is met the student is taken off of financial aid warning If the required minimum cumulative GPA is not achieved then the student will be placed on financial aid suspension during the next semester of attendance The student will not receive financial aid assistance while on financial aid suspension The total cumulative earned hours consist of hours earned at ECSU and accepted transfer credits Transfer credits are not included in the computation of the cumulative GPA for financial aid unless the credit was earned while attending other schools as a Transient Student where a student was taking classes at another institution as a degree seeking ECSU student B Completion Rate Quantitative Students must earn a minimum of 67 percent of the cumulative coursework attempted excluding transferred hours Failure to complete this minimum percentage will result in a student being placed on financial aid warning during the next semester of attendance If the student completes 67 percent of the coursework attempted during the warning semester then the student will be taken off of financial aid warning If the student completes less than 67 percent of cumulative coursework attempted during the warning semester then the student will be placed on financial aid suspension for the next attending semester C Maximum Time Frame All students must complete their program of study within a maximum time frame of one and one half 150 percent times the length of the program in which they are enrolled This means that once a student has attempted one and one half times the minimum number of credit hours necessary for completing program requirements the student will be ineligible to receive financial aid Attempted hours include all attempted hours at ECSU and all accepted transfer credit Double majors are expected to complete their program of student within 186 credit hours If the student qualifies for graduation in a particular major but makes a personal decision to double major the student is no longer entitled to receive Federal Title IV Aid Second degree students are required to complete their second degree within the maximum 150 of the hours required for the second degree maximum of 246 including hours for the first degree For graduate students the maximum time frame is 54 attempted hours If the time limit has been exceeded aid eligibility ends The student will be placed on financial aid suspension status Grades Grades of IP in progress W withdrew WA withdrew administratively WP withdrew passing WF withdrew failing and WD withdrew from the university are not included in calculating a student s GPA but are counted as course work attempted I incomplete and FA failure due to absenteeism are counted as an F All grade changes must be submitted and processed during the first 10 days of classes of the following semester Any changes after the first 10 days of the following semester will not be included in the SAP calculation

    to students who are recipients of federal or state financial assistance while attending Elizabeth City State University Students must apply annually for federal aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA by March 1st of each year Students must be regularly admitted to Elizabeth City State University in a degree seeking status and must be enrolled in an eligible degree seeking program prior to the first day of the term to participate in federal and state aid programs Provisionally admitted and special admitted students are not eligible for financial assistance Transient students should contact their home institution for financial aid Students must 1 meet the school s Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards 2 not owe a refund on any grant or be in default on any educational loan and 3 not have borrowed in excess of the loan limits under the Title IV programs at any institution Financial aid is limited to coursework required for the declared major Financial aid is not available for audit courses Students must attend the classes in which they have enrolled to be eligible for aid payment Students must submit all required documents Failure to submit the requested documents may result in a delay or lost of financial aid funds Students are aware that the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships can not award federal state and institutional funds over the student s Cost of Attendance budget Any outside scholarships or alternative loans must be reported to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and that these funds may reduce the amount of financial aid the student receives Financial aid awards are based on full time enrollment for each term awarded Less than full time enrollment may require an adjustment to the aid award Undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more semester hours

    your academic and personal growth Our students come from different places and backgrounds but together they create a diverse close knit community that seeks to create a better world Athletics Alumni Search Keyword Search Search News About Us By the Numbers ECSU Brands and Logos Forms and Documents Licensing Marketing Media Relations Publications Radio TV Service Social Media Staff Viking Profiles Veterans recognized at ECSU By Kesha Williams November 19 2013 ECSU welcomed alumni and guests to campus for two Veteran s Day recognitions First the Athletics Department welcomed veterans for a Walk of Honor at the halftime segment of the football game on November 9 The Marching Sound of Class Band performed Rolling Thunder as veterans strolled from the scoreboard of Roebuck Stadium toward the home fans seating area On Monday November 11 the staff in the Department of Human Resources recognized 30 employees who served in the nation s military at a Veteran s Day program in the Walter and Henrietta Ridley Student Center Cmdr Warren D Judge a 1997 graduate who has served the last 27 years with the U S Coast Guard was the guest speaker During those years his occupational specialty centered around command control computers and communications Judge is currently stationed at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D C where he manages a budget of 30 million and leads a matrix team of over 80 personnel His previous unit was the White House Communications Agency WHCA There he served as a Presidential Communications and Response Officer for the president of the United States and the executive senior staff His WHCA assignments led him to several countries such as Russia China South Korea and Ireland as well as numerous domestic and international locations Judge told the audience he was honored to speak for the Veteran s Day program at ECSU It takes a special person to volunteer special people to put themselves in harm s way not just for their family but their country Judge said My definition of a veteran is a military person who places others before self a person you can count on to have your back when you are in a fox hole A veteran is also friend you can talk to who will understand the issues you are going through both in the military and in your personal life A veteran is a person who raises his her right hand takes the oath of office promises to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic this person promises to obey the orders of the president of the United states and the officers appointed over him her Judge congratulated the veterans in the audience of approximately 150 people He encouraged the audience to thank veterans from each branch of the military for their service no matter their assigned duties Judge acknowledged ECSU professors who were supportive of him when he attended the university He is a native of Tampa Fla who arrived in
