This plenary session will present many practical ideas from the Scriptures to resist worldliness and develop holy Christlike character Holiness and the Problem of Idolatry by Mark Stevenson One of the key obstacles in the quest for holiness is the allurement of counterfeit gods Idolatry is not merely a historic problem of ancient peoples it is the daily temptation of our sinful hearts This session will encourage us to identify the idols of our hearts and replace them with an infinitely superior object of worship and devotion Jesus Christ the Lord Holiness Through Beholding the Glory of Christ by Mark Stevenson 2 Corinthians 3 18 says it is through beholding the glory of the Lord that we are being transformed into the same image Therefore this session commends meditation on the glories of Christ as an essential element in the quest for holiness Modern Spirituality and Paul s Spiritual Man by Dr David MacLeod Spirituality a word not found in the Bible has been hijacked by so many modern movements that it has become almost meaningless In this session Dr MacLeod will briefly survey the usage of the term in today s world and then expound the Apostle Paul s

improvements and we readily accept these But what about changes in thinking about fundamental and sacred areas of life We need to turn to Scripture for a proper perspective and instruction for marriage relationships and family relationships Precepts from Proverbs for Holy Living by Bob Deffinbaugh The word holy occurs only three times in the Book of Proverbs so one might be inclined to look elsewhere for instruction regarding holiness Such is not the case at all The goal of this session will be to demonstrate the crucial role that the Book of Proverbs plays in the pursuit of holiness We will focus on principles and precepts in Proverbs that deal with some of the major dimensions of holiness in the life of the Christian Purity in Finances by David Allison How can I be pure in the dirty world of finances Are there any biblical principles that can help me live what I believe How can I be clean in my handling of filthy lucre Can I really make eternal friends with the mammon of unrighteousness What differentiates the spiritual man from the carnal man in matters related to money and assets Dave will help us answer these and other related questions with which we are confronted in a materialistic world Pursuing Holiness in the Church by Ken Raymond But just as he who called you is holy so be holy in all you do I Peter 1 15 NIV The call to holiness is universally accepted by the church but often misunderstood It has led to a theology of perfection to a philosophy of separation and even to a spirit of entitlement In this seminar we want to challenge these misguided notions of holiness and outline a more biblical response to the challenge What does holiness look like in the world today and how can we actively encourage it in our churches Pursuing Holiness in the Home by Ken Raymond Nowhere is it more important to be holy than in the home and yet nowhere is it more likely for us to fail In this seminar we will spend less time defining holiness and more time discussing how to cultivate it Holiness must be the backbone of our marriages and our families It cannot be done without and it cannot be faked We must become holy in word and deed It must define our character What does that look like in the home and what must our children see in us Rated R or Rated R12 2 by Jeff Riley G PG13 R Rated for mature audiences only What is the standard Christians use to make wise media choices in a media saturated culture where we no longer look for news and entertainment rather news and entertainment look for us Christians not only face making healthy media choices but processing a constant stream brings new challenges as well Romans 12 warns us to be rated mature in being transformed by the power of Christ rather than being conformed
