service learning hours will meet the graduation requirement Check with your academic advisor Right now the rule is 80 hours for students entering FGCU as freshmen and sophomores and 40 hours for students entering as juniors and seniors with 60 or more transferable credit hours Another way to tell is to access your Gulfline account If you are listed as upper level you ll need 40 hours If you are listed as lower level you ll need 80 hours open 5 Where do I submit my Service Learning Agreement and Verification form s You may deposit your form in the Service Learning Drop Box For your convenience you may deposit your original form in the green drop box at the entrance to our office provided you made a copy for your records Our office is located in the Library Building 4th Floor Room 458 In addition Nancy Eckert Room 458I and Lisa Paige Room 458G have drop boxes on the wall panel just outside their office You may deposit forms there provided you ve made a copy for your     of Service Learning and Civic Engagement will recognize up to 10 graduating seniors each semester that greatly excel in their engagement and service to their community by awarding them an Excellence in Civic Engagement stole Students will complete the application process details below those selected will be given their stoles at a special ceremony and then proudly don their stoles at FGCU s Graduation Ceremony Please bring hardcopy applications to the Office of Service Learning and Civic Engagement 4th Floor Library 458I by the end of the day 5pm Electronic applications will not be accepted Fall 2015 deadline to turn in application is Friday November 6th by 5pm Application must include Complete listing of Service projects completed and approved while enrolled at FGCU can be obtained from our records in Banner if student does not have copies of verification forms Total number of hours served our office will verify total First Time In College FTIC students will need a minimum of 400 hours served to be eligible Upper level transfers will need a minimum of 200 hours served to be eligible Students completing their Gr aduate degrees will need a minimum of 200 hours served during their time in graduate school to be eligible A 500 word essay that provides the following information Please describe one or more of the sustained service learning projects minimum 50 hours in which you worked to make a difference and meet the confirmed needs of a community partner Share your specific contributions that impacted the organization or community and what substantial change occurred as a result of these contributions Please explain how this service learning experience is closely connected to your education and growth as an individual at FGCU One 1 letter of recommendation support from a community partner where the student served in
