March 14 Out of State Waivers are based on the University s established key selection criteria of recruitment retention diversity and service and awarded to students who are classified as out of state residents Out of state waivers are based on funding allocation and may not be awarded every term Eligibility Must be classified as Non Florida Resident for tuition purposes Must meet the published waiver application deadlines This is primarily an admissions merit based waiver program and priority will be given to newly admitted TRANSFER students Minimum transfer GPA of 3 4 All applicants will be reviewed and ranked according to GPA The review committee will also take into consideration other factors as presented on the application these factors may include outstanding leadership civic Reading Math Writing or 23 ACT International students with an F 1 VISA citizen resident of a Latin American or Caribbean country Other Opportunities Florida Linkage Institute Program Details Latin American Caribbean Scholarship This scholarship program has been developed to provide scholarships to international students from designated Latin American and Caribbean countries or territories that would then allow FGCU to classify these recipients as special residents for tuition and fee purposes in accordance with Section 1009 21 10 e Florida Statutes Criteria for Awards Student must submit the application to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the published deadline Student must be admitted as an undergraduate degree seeking student Student must maintain full time enrollment status 12 hours for the Spring and Fall semesters and 9 hours for the Summer semester Student who are enrolled as distance learning only are not eligible for this program Student must be approved to study in the United States with an F 1 Visa except for students from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands Student must be a citizen or legal resident of one of the countries or territories listed in Appendix I below Student must satisfy one of the following GPA of 3 4 or SAT of 1560 or ACT of 23 or Students who have demonstrated special talents for example in fields such as music or fine arts     and or Name Change Form Signature Page Change of Term Form Applicants changing their term of admission must separately contact the Offices of Financial Aid and Housing to determine the status of any previously awarded aid or housing assignment Additionally students enrolled in classes in the original term should contact the Registrar s Office and or their Advisor to ensure that they are properly withdrawn from those classes Admission Appeals Documentation An appeal of a denial admissions decision will only be considered if you provide new and compelling information that was excluded from the first review of your admissions eligibility Examples of this type of information include but are not limited to new test scores that are significantly higher than those previously submitted or disability documentation You must submit two documents to begin this process First you need to submit a 2 page personal essay in which you describe extenuating circumstances that influenced your academic performance discuss your special talents or abilities and explain what you expect to contribute to the FGCU campus Finally you must submit at least two letters of recommendation from academic sources such as high school teachers or college professors Recommendation letters from employers family members

    total credits accepted at the lower division 1000 and 2000 level courses The college of the student s major assigns the equivalent upper division 3000 and 4000 level courses Admission to FGCU does not guarantee acceptance into all programs or courses offered by the University The University reserves the right to evaluate transfer credit courses on an individual basis The final applicability of transfer of credit rests with the respective academic advisor thus they may ask you to provide course descriptions and or syllabi for formal review of your transfer credit Checking the Status of your Transfer Articulation Within a few weeks of being admitted to Florida Gulf Coast University we will articulate your college transcripts We only articulate official transcripts and do not articulate courses from another college university that may have been posted as transfer credit on that transcript Please make sure to send all final official transcripts to the Undergraduate Admissions Office directly We cannot accept faxed transcripts or transcripts in sealed envelopes that have been opened by the student How many credits will transfer to FGCU In order to access your transfer articulation you must log in to Gulfline https gulfline fgcu edu with your UIN number and PIN number You will want to choose Student Records and then click on Academic Transcript This will let you know the number of transferrable credits If you have any questions after looking over your transfer of credit please contact your academic advisor What is the foreign language require for applicants purusing a Second Bachelor s Degree The first Bachelor s Degree satisifes the general education requirements and provides exemption from the foreign language requirement for admission General Guidelines for Awarding Transfer Credit Credit is not given for technical vocational physical education or pre college courses or for courses completed below a grade of D Transfer credits will not be computed into a student s FGCU institutional grade point average but are included in the overall grade point average If credits are in quarter hours they will be converted to semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by 67 As an example a four quarter hour course will only be awarded 2 67 semester credits At least 25 percent of coursework for the degree must be earned at FGCU Thirty 30 of the last 60 hours must be earned at FGCU to receive a baccalaureate degree from FGCU Credit by departmental examination from another institution will be evaluated on a case by case basis Credits awarded by another institution solely on the basis of SAT or ACT scores will not be accepted by FGCU Accreditation status and evaluation of credits from an institution outside of the U S must be made by an international credential evaluation agency with associated costs to be paid by the student University level coursework undertaken abroad may be transferrable if earned at a recognized institution depending on academic equivalency Course transferability is determined on a course by course basis All transfer credit evaluations are
