    the collaborative traditions of our craft to ask our students to courageously pursue curiosity and boldly risk discovery We provide respectful environments for students to discipline their findings in daily practice of newly acquired skills and we call upon them to summon their intellect into the service of their performance when we connect the theory of the classroom to the application of the stage Theatre at FGCU is also committed to its role within the university As such we embrace the humanizing project that has been at the core of the art form for thousands of years We recognize that we enjoy a unique position in the cultural life of the FGCU community as well as the communities we serve in Southwest Florida We relish the opportunity to share with our broader constituencies the results of our artistic inquiries into the human condition With that in mind we also commit ourselves to the creation of new knowledge in the discipline of theatre through scholarship and theatrical experimentation We accomplish this by continuing to develop a theatre faculty recognized as practicing artists scholars and teachers who are dedicated to research and creative activity And finally perhaps most importantly we are unswerving

    Florida This is NOT the same as a Transient Student currently enrolled in the State University System of Florida or those seeking admission as a Senior Citizen Non Degree Seeker pdf 91kb You must be at least 60 years of age in order to be considered a Senior Citizen Non Degree Seeker Undergraduate Non degree seeking enrollment is on a space available basis and has been established for those individuals who do not hold a bachelor s degree or higher and would like to enroll but are not seeking a degree from FGCU A non refundable application fee of 30 will be applied for first time applicants Students enrolling in this classification are subject to the following regulations Non degree seeking students are subject to the same rules and regulations as degree seeking students International students may not enroll as Non degree seeking students due to federal regulations Non degree seeking students are not eligible to receive financial aid Non degree seeking students are not eligible to stay in University housing or to receive University honors A degree seeking student denied admission to FGCU may not be subsequently enroll as a Non degree seeking student This restriction will be waived if the student subsequent to the denial from FGCU has completed a degree program or has been a student in good academic standing at another postsecondary institution Official transcripts will be required in these cases A Non degree seeking student dismissed from the University will not be eligible for admission as a degree seeking student A non degree seeking student is limited to 15 credit hours of undergraduate coursework In special circumstances a college may waive this restriction Hours taken at FGCU as a Non degree seeking student cannot be used to meet the 60 transferable hours required for admission

  • Oyster Restoration Project
    4 300 hours of time this project has re established 23 oyster reefs in the estuaries of southwest Florida Our volunteers not only learn about oyster reefs and how important they are to maintaining a healthy ecosystem but they also are able to directly contribute to its health The estuaries of SW Florida are their backyard where they boat fish swim and simply enjoy They have a vested interest in improving their local environment not only for themselves but their children and grandchildren We are extremely grateful for the dedication enthusiasm and hard work of all of our past volunteers Student volunteers are also welcomed at the middle and high school levels Middle school students have become aware of our oyster reef restoration program via participation in the Summer Research Opportunities program at FGCU In that program middle school students learn how to conduct scientific research using oyster reef development and biology as a model system in their projects We have also conducted outreach to high school teachers from the Lee County School District by conducting workshops on the role of oysters in maintaining a healthy ecosystem Students at all levels comprise an important component of our vast team of community volunteers For more information on how you can volunteer in oyster reef restoration please contact Lesli Haynes lhaynes fgcu edu Community members are also integral to the success of our restoration program Private citizens recreational fishermen and employees of partner agencies have volunteered their boats and their time in the construction and monitoring of oyster reefs Citizens who live along the shores of the Caloosahatchee River Estero Bay and Henderson Creek have also volunteered to be a part of the oyster gardening program Every year volunteers have contributed over 1000 hours toward restoring oyster reefs Our volunteers not only
