    Yes students may take an online course at FGCU However it is recommended that students consult with an FGCU advisor and have a computer and internet access at home Computer internet resources are available on campus When and where are Early Admission courses taught FGCU accepts application for admission for the fall term only Students are enrolled in fall and spring terms only Early Admission is only offered through courses taught on the campus of FGCU How many credits must a student take in the Early Admission Program Early admission students must enroll in a minimum of 12 college credit hours per semester but cannot take more than 16 credits during the fall or spring terms May an early admission student participate in high school activities School district policies vary regarding student participation in high school activities However students in early admission programs are eligible under the Florida High School Athletic Association FHSAA to participate in high school athletics Students may not be registered in activity related courses at the high school if they are early admission at FGCU May a student take Early Admission courses even after completion of high school graduation subject area requirements Early Admission students are subject to the same district policy as traditional high school students For example if an Early Admission student completes high school graduation requirements but has not graduated by December of his or her senior year and is allowed to continue taking high school courses in the spring term then the Early Admission student should also be permitted to take courses in the spring term Please check with your school district regarding their policy May a student take Early Admission courses beyond the high school graduation date No If a student is projected to graduate from high school before the completion date of the FGCU course the student may not take that course through Early Admission Following high school graduation Early Admission students are not required to submit another application to FGCU but are transitioned to their respective college How are Early Admission courses weighted by the public school district Section 1003 437 F S specifies that For the purposes of class ranking district school boards may exercise a weighted grading system pursuant to s 1007 271 For districts that use a weighted grading system s 1007 271 18 F S states that school districts and Florida College System institutions must weigh dual enrollment courses the same as advanced placement International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education courses when grade point averages are calculated Alternative grade calculation or weighting systems that discriminate against dual enrollment courses are prohibited In addition there should be no differentiation between the weighting of 1000 and 2000 level courses or courses that do not appear on the Dual Enrollment Course High School Subject Area Equivalency List What Early Admission courses count toward a Bright Futures Scholarship The Bright Futures Comprehensive Course Table CCT https www osfaffelp org bfiehs fnbpcm02 CCTMain aspx lists all courses considered

    Privacy Act of 1974 is a federal law that requires all institutions of higher education to protect the education records of students Under FERPA only the student may access his or her records once the student enrolls in a college or university How does FERPA affect parents Typically under FERPA parents do not have rights to access their son or daughter s education records without the written permission of the student However to afford rights to parents FGCU requires all Dual Enrollment and Early Admission students to complete and return a Dual Enrollment or Early Admission Authorization to Release Educational Information to a Third Party form The form is effective while the student attends FGCU under the status of Early Admission and allows parents the right to request copies of their son or daughters academic transcript grades the ability to talk to the Accelerated Collegiate Experience Director or academic advisor about the student s academic performance and the right to act on the student s behalf in the case of emergency How do I get my student s grades FGCU s web based student information system Gulfline allows students the ability to access their education records conveniently and on demand Students use Gulfline to register for courses view grades view print and request transcripts view or print class schedules and much more Since Gulfline contains confidential education information FERPA requires FGCU to protect the student s Gulfline sign on which is considered the student s electronic signature Because students are instructed to protect and not share their Gulfline access information parents are expected to honor the student s privacy by not using or asking for the sign on information When information is needed parents should ask their student to provide a printout or parents should contact the ACE Director or
