    strategies and he is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers ASCE and a Fellow in the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE He delivers webinars and seminars to a wide range of audiences on high wind and flood design issues including building code and engineering standards requirements Jaime D Gascon P E Miami Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources RER Jaime Gascon is the Product Control Section Supervisor of Miami Dade County s Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources RER He joined the County as a product control inspector in 1994 when the Miami Dade County testing protocols were being developed and implemented He has nearly 25 years of construction experience related to the building envelope both commercial and residential Jaime also has extensive experience in wind borne debris impact testing structural wind and water infiltration testing considerations He is a State of Florida Professional Engineer and supervises the product approval functions in Miami Dade County for issuance of product approval Notice of Acceptance NOA Jaime also oversees the Product Control Section s Quality Assurance Unit which conducts manufacturing plant laboratory and fabricating plant audits He is a member of the Structural Technical Advisory Committee to the Florida Building Commission John W Knezevich PE Knezevich Consulting John Knezevich is a Professional Engineer specializing in the structural engineering of exterior envelope components As President of Knezevich Consulting he is involved in projects where quality and sustainability are critical Mr Knezevich is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering After spending 10 years practicing structural engineering as it pertains to building structures he saw a need to bring that knowledge to the exterior envelope With so many failures during wind storms occurring to the envelope of buildings not the building structures it was obvious that there was a need for improved quality and technology in exterior envelope engineering Since that time in 1992 Mr Knezevich has worked with manufacturers owners and architects to bring the latest technologies and the highest quality control to projects He has worked with numerous manufacturers in the development of impact resistant systems since the origination of those requirements in 1994 Building on the knowledge of exterior envelope strengths and vulnerabilities Mr Knezevich has performed numerous wind risk assessments of projects and portfolios With experience utilizing each of the major insurance CAT models Mr Knezevich has integrated CAT modeling with mitigation planning to optimize the overall value for clients with a need for sustainable buildings Professor Gregory Kopp University of Western Ontario Professor G A Kopp received a B Sc M E from the University of Manitoba in 1989 a M Eng from McMaster University in 1991 and a Ph D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1995 Between 1995 and 1997 he held a NSERC Post doctoral Fellowship in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona Spain He returned to Canada in the summer of 1997 to
