  • Professor Angus P. Wilkinson | Wilkinson Group
    faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology as an assistant professor He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1999 and Full Professor in 2004 He has served as one of the School s Associate Chairs since 2006 He also holds a courtesy appointment in the School of Materials Science and Engineering Research interests His current research interests include 1 the design preparation and characteristics of negative and low thermal expansion materials 2 the hydration and performance of oil well cements under down hole conditions and 3 the development of synchrotron based methodologies and apparatus for in situ diffraction studies of materials Educational interests In the class room at Georgia Tech Prof Wilkinson regularly teaches courses in solid state chemistry and crystallography for graduate students and upper level undergraduates He also teaches part of the freshman chemistry sequence In addition to his teaching at Georgia Tech he has been involved in many workshops that explore how powder diffraction data can be used to learn about the atomic level structure of materials Notably he has been an instructor for the Canadian Powder Diffraction Workshop series for many years Professional Service Dr Wilkinson is a current member of the US National Committee on
