    has a fire alarm system Upon hearing an alarm students and staff will evacuate classrooms and office areas to the outside away from the buildings and out of the way of responding emergency personnel Students should become familiar with the exits from their classrooms Fire extinguishers are strategically placed for use against minor fires Any person discovering a fire should sound the alarm and then call the campus telephone operator by dialing 0 immediately giving the location of the fire and the name of the caller Medical The College does not maintain a medical staff on campus to administer to visitors students staff or faculty Since all personnel and students reside off campus medical and dental care the expense of such care are individual responsibilities The College does not provide emergency treatment First Aid First Aid Kits are located in all shops and departmental offices on campuses A First Aid Station is located in Room 112 of the Medlin campus Center for the Jamestown Campus A First Aid Station is located in the GTCC Campus Police Office at the Greensboro and High Point Campuses In case of an accident students should report the accident to an instructor or other personnel and request that Camups Police be contacted Students may also notify the campus operator at the main entrance to the Medlin Campus Center or dial 0 or contact the GTCC Campus Police Office for assistance NOTE All accidents must be reported to the Campus Police Office as soon as possible Crime Prevention Tips Do not leave valuables in your car Leave them at home or lock them in your trunk Be sure to take your keys with you and lock your vehicle Do not leave personal items books purses keys pagers cell phones etc unattended It only takes a second

    authorities on the solution of crimes committed on or off the campuses At present the Campus Police Department does not have written memoranda of understanding with state or local law enforcement agencies but has always worked closely with them for the solution of all crimes The Guilford Technical Community College Campus Police Department urges all students faculty staff and visitors to the college to promptly report any and all crimes to the campus police department or to the appropriate police agency Crime is everyone s responsibility and it cannot be contained if it is not reported In the event of an emergency emergency notifications will be issued without delay and take into account the safety of the community The only exception is if doing so would compromise efforts to assist a victim or to contain respond to or otherwise mitigate the emergency The first priority is containing the emergency The next priority is issuing a notification and that after confirmation must be done before anything else unless it is necessary to contain the emergency This determination will be made in the professional judgment of responsible authorities and not personnel without emergency response expertise Only an emergency notification will be issued immediately However more adequate follow up information will be forth coming as the situation allows and the circumstances dictate Guilford Technical Community College notifies personnel of emergencies by means of E2Campus a texting system that directs messages to phones and computers once an individual signs up for the service This service is offered free of charge by the college to all faculty staff and students The college is also in the process of making final installation of an external siren speaker mass notification system on all campuses The college is also in the process of connecting all monitors and external electronic signs so that an emergency message may also be scrolled across them as another means of emergency notification The college will annually disclose procedures for testing their emergency response and evacuation procedures This refers to testing the overall emergency response procedures not just the emergency notification system which will also be tested The Clery law defines regularly scheduled drills exercises and appropriate follow through activities designed for assessment and evaluation of emergency plans and capabilities Such testing may be announced or unannounced The test will be documented and the documentation of each test will be maintained for seven years A real world response cannot be counted as the college s annual test Such activities are defined as Drill a drill is a coordinated supervised exercise activity normally used to test a single specific operation or function With a drill there is no attempt to coordinate organizations or fully activate the emergency Operations Center EOC Tabletop exercise a tabletop exercise is a facilitated analysis of an emergency situation in an informal stress free environment It is designed to elicit constructive discussion as participants examine and resolve problems based on existing operational plans and identify where those plans need to be

    043 March 15 GTCC Trustees Name New Campus After Long Time College President March 15 view all Events view all Parking Policy Parking Permits Parking Violations Towing Violations Speed Limit Traffic and Parking Owner or Operator The owner or operator of the offending vehicle shall be liable for payment of all applicable fees pursuant to this section in addition to the applicable penalties prescribed elsewhere in the Policy and Procedures Parking General GTCC s Traffic Parking Policy and Procedures are in effect at all times Students may park in any parking spaces except those specifically reserved for special use i e faculty staff college owned vehicles cosmetology patrons visitors reserved etc Vehicles are required to display a current GTCC parking permit faculty staff student special etc when parking in any space at any GTCC campus Reserved Parking Areas Spaces Except faculty staff visitors cosmetology patrons dental patrons and the physically disable parking spaces are not reserved on GTCC campus locations Loading and Unloading To assist faculty staff and student the following guidelines must be followed so that you may park as close as possible to your office classrooms lab etc To load and or unload Take a 3 X 5 white card and print on one side Loading or Unloading Print your name office location and office phone extension PLACE UNDER WINDSHIELD WIPERS on the DRIVER S SIDE ONL Y AND TURN ON VEHICLE EMERGENCY FLASHERS Your vehicle will be permitted to park near your respective building Your auto will be marked and permitted a 30 MINUTE time period unless posted otherwise to load and or unload Then it MUST BE MOVED or a citation will be issued Cars with Mechanical Problems GTCC s Campus Police Officers will provide or summon assistance for persons who have problems with their autos
